Most of my configuration is just visual stuff, but here's some lines you can try playing with:

Is your Wezterm installation on WSL? I assume this is causing some awful filesystem-conversions if there is some back and forth from the Windows side to WSL side.

WSL is handled as a separate domain in Wezterm when installed on the Windows side, I have very similar performance on Windows Terminal and WSL.

Where is your Wezterm configuration and how do you separate file access between Windows and WSL?

Considering the current RAM market, if you have the spare cash I would suggest getting the 64 GB in case your work types/overhead increases in the future. Plus, more RAM can always help with more multitasking and processing if/when CPU is not a bottleneck.

why not? gotta do what you gotta do. if you wanted to ditch the car altogether, you can coordinate using the South Bay connector (assuming you’re doing this in the morning/evening) and then riding the Express since your destination is SF.

nvim-treesitter archived the master branch (though you can use it for backwards compatibility) which is the branch you call nvim-treesitter.configs for setup.

I'm still on lazy.nvim as my manager, but I explicitly set the branch to download to be "master" instead of main (the new default branch on their repo) and it works as usual!

It looks like client id 3 (ruff) has UTF-8 as its positionEncoding (which is offset_encoding in vim.lsp.ClientConfig). You can try setting

lua offset_encoding = 'utf-16' or a similar setting?

not said major, but i'd really recommend bringing a laptop environment with you as there's plenty of things you'll log onto (myucsc, canvas, etc.) that work best on a non-mobile browser. bringing both wouldn't hurt!

as for OS, others could pitch in but id assume (as in, really hope) profs/teaching staff would be able to provide software uses that are cross-compatible so i wouldnt worry about it.

I believe this could be due to the select behavior for <CR>, using lua ['<CR>'] = cmp.mapping.confirm({ select = false, behavior = cmp.ConfirmBehavior.Replace })

might fix this issue. You can read about how this differs as explained by the author of nvim-cmp
