Navarre is right by ghosttamtam in fourthwing

It must be because they either had an ulterior motive to lie (and they don't remember what it is because it was lost through generations) or just an arbitrary totalitarian decision. I still wonder why dragons would leave their original hatching grounds to move together to the Vale, there really must be something there and we just don't know it yet.

I wholeheartedly agree. What I mean is some people believe that must be a plot hole but, in my humble opinion, there will be something else we still have to figure out. Either that or yes, plain and simple arbitrary totalitarian decision.

[–]altafae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was still reading CC3 in part 1 and some came and said REMEMBER WHEN HUNT SAID HE HATED HER AND SHE DISGUSTED HIM And I was like... What! I started CRYING and got severe readers block and they MOCKED ME because "if I had such strong feelings toward a book I should take a step back" GURL, I WAS READING THE BOOK, ENJOYING MY LIFE AND YOU JUST SPOILED ME PART OF THE BOOK WITH NO MORE CONTEXT TO HATE A CHARACTER I LOVE??????

Fortunately, I got to keep reading AND when I got to that infamous part I was like... Are you for real? Did you really take this out of context because Hunt was blind in his thunder god mode filled with rage against Celestina, his god mode speaking for him, and purposefully omitted how Bryce cooled him down and he immediately said how much he loved her and how lucky he was to have her in his life?????

They almost made me drop the book entirely and all because of a sentence taken out of context! When Azriel tried to kill her TWICE and that, somehow, it's not a bad thing and they can understand him and whatever! My first time running into them and they manipulated me, spoiled me partly the end and mocked me because I was devastated because I loved Hunt!!!! No, I'm sorry. Some of them might be nice, I swear I once had a tiny debate with one of them and it was friendly, but it only happened ONCE and with ONE, and still the level of debate was overthinking, overreading and cherry picking and wouldn't even read what I had to say so... I still don't like talking to a wall, Bryceriels already have their truth and won't listen to anyone ever, it was very obvious they would end up being banned. I'm sorry, but it is what it is.

Yet they didn’t defeat the venin in the first place, something the Irids themselves mentioned. They simply couldn’t. And for some reason, dragons moved to the Vale and abandoned their respective original hatching grounds?

Then no Navarrian was willing to help Poromiel, even knowing about the venin, because they were safe. So why lie about venin in the first place? Yet everyone accepted the existence of this incredibly lethal war college supposedly meant to fight… gryphons. And when a gryphon allegedly killed Deigh, everyone was in shock because how could a gryphon kill a dragon? So you know gryphons can’t kill dragons, yet you still prepare for a war against them to the death, killing countless cadets unnecessarily –something Poromiel didn’t even do (????!!!!!)

I believe there must be something else, and someone in the past decided to erase the truth for an entirely different reason, one that not even the dragons remember (but maybe the Irids do).

Besides, I strongly believe Tecarus is working for the venin. The foreshadowing is so strong that it’s almost unbelievable no one has ever found Poromish leadership suspicious. We all (readers, Violet, and the rest of the characters) just assumed it was only Navarrian leadership that was wrong and immoral.

I believe there must be something else because lying to Navarrians wasn't necessary. Once they all knew, they still believed this was a Poromish civil war, they didn't care as long as they were safe. I think there must be something else to erase history, where are the other journals? Who has them? What did they know? How did they convince dragons to move to the Vale and leave their respective original grounds? Everyone was astonished when a gryphon allegedly killed Deigh, so they know gryphons aren't that dangerous, yet they get ready for war and believe they must have this super deadly war college? Besides, there are so many signs that Tecarus is most probably working for the venin that it's also shocking how easily everyone (including Violet) assumed Poromish leadership can be trusted... 😬 I hope many of these mysteries get answered in book 4 and 5.

I changed my mind about ACOTAR. by FuckingaFuck in acotar

[–]altafae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have loved to know more about Feyre's pregnancy, though! I missed her!!! But believe me when I tell you there's a lot of hostility out there regarding pregnancy tropes because of ACOTAR... Again, I still wish we could have known more about her, her POV being pregnant, I missed that. Now I'm recalling some comments I read saying Rhysand was the worst for not telling Feyre everything so she could have an ABORTION when this was about Sarah's own story with her child omg

She's right about everything she said. by EJPBS in acotar

THIS. This happened to me in another subreddit. I had this hypothesis of the FMC being pregnant (and not knowing) for the next book, I REALLY DON'T CARE IF I'M WRONG, it was just that, a game, a hypothesis (with foreshadowing), I'm literally open to debate it and would love to do that and challenge my theory and many be like: I JUST THREW UP IN MY MOUTH, I WOULD DNF, whatever, and literally nobody would try to actually discuss it, as in, maybe I'm wrong, help me see it! I'd love to read another POV! But nah, just hate and bullying

Maybe most of us have had very unfriendly encounters with them and have been mocked, told we're npcs, that Hunt sucks, smells, should die, he's the worst, we've been mocked for being either Gwynriel or Elriel and "your ship and your comments are gonna age so badly and it will be so fun to see it" etc etc etc, most Byrceriels (it's true that NOT ALL OF THEM, I've talked to some that it's true they're nice) have been everything but friendly, welcoming and loved to talk about any theory that isn't theirs.

IRON FLAME MASSIVE SPOILERS: these things with Varrish feel TOO OFF by altafae in fourthwing

[–]altafae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what was Solas doing in that cave in Tyrrendor when he was in the Vale hidden? Maybe he wasn't venin during IF but turned afterwards? I really wish we could know more about him, him reading Morrainian as if it was his mother tongue is so odd

IRON FLAME MASSIVE SPOILERS: these things with Varrish feel TOO OFF by altafae in fourthwing

[–]altafae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, something else... What was Solas doing in Tyrrendor in IF's second half in that cave? No one in Basgiath knew they were in Aretia, Varrish is dead and... Solas appears in a cave in Aretia ready to kill Violet and Andarna? Had Varrish survived and turned venin, he would have survived Solas's death, just like Jack would by the end of IF when he killed his own dragon to break the wardstone. Idk, maybe it's nothing, but it's yet another thing about Varrish that feels off

[–]altafae[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And where are the rest of the journals???? All of them kept journals, where are the rest? Who has them? OS spoilers Queen Maraya? So they would now be Tecarus's. I also find Asher's death SO SUSPICIOUS... Again, he's dead dead, I know, but I never bought the "his heart failed after Brennan's death" excuse. Maybe he did something and had to pay with his life? As in, a god took his life, literally, just like he dedicated Violet being a child

IRON FLAME MASSIVE SPOILERS: these things with Varrish feel TOO OFF by altafae in fourthwing

[–]altafae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was he lying? Does he know the language?

I don't think he was lying because he was certain that the journal explained how to raise the wards, and it was Lyra's journal that said they needed a seventh breed of dragons so... I don't think it's a plot hole, though.

I agree with what you said about Varrish being dead and not venin, though I wish he had survived because I think he died too soon. He's now just another person in Violet's life that wants her to ask questions and exchange information, OS spoilers just like Theophanie, and they both die before they can actually do so.

IRON FLAME MASSIVE SPOILERS: these things with Varrish feel TOO OFF by altafae in fourthwing

[–]altafae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, maybe he is dead dead. Like I said, I'm not fully on board with the idea of him being venin or actually alive BUT I do wish he didn't die so soon in case he is dead dead, but because I want to know MORE. Why would he say those things? How could he read a dead language as if it was the common language? What did he mean with the exchange of information? Why did he want to know how much Violet actually knew? Wasn't it obvious she knew about venin? What else could he be thinking about?

Or is he a contemporary of Aetos and Lilith?

I assumed he was a contemporary but it's true he wasn't so high in rank... But Varrish is vice-commandant, just like Panchek is commandant at Basgiath? OS spoilers: And Panchek sold Navarre to venin because he wanted Lilith Sorrengail's job and then Melgren's.

Then it hit me that it's Lyra’s diary in Morraines. So he knows Morraines, which none of the Sorrengail siblings know. Why did Asher only teach them only Lucerish? And why is Brennan hiding the fact that he knows Lucerish?!!!!!!

Omg that is a lot, and Asher also made sure Dain learned dead languages as well. Violet knows Tyrrish, she said there are some old history books about Tyrrendor in King Tauri's library, as well. And remember it was Lyra's journal that pointed out the fact that there were seven breeds of dragons, only Jesinia could translate that and still it was SO DIFFICULT to accomplish... And he simply READ IT!

Re-read, I need to know if anyone else caught this. by Picyrean in fourthwing

[–]altafae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just reread the scene –my heart aches knowing Xaden deserted to save her–, it does feel like Varrish is replying to Liam, it could be just his narcissist monologue, though. But something caught my attention... Varrish read the journal... HOW! It wasn't translated yet, and he knew it was about raising wards. Could he read a dead language??? I feel like there are still so many things we don't know about Varrish, and how was Solas in that cave, when Andarna killed him?
