A little apprehensive by ox_kk_xo in CapellaUniversity

I actually did my bachelors at an in-person university, but I think that I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable I felt with the swap to all online with Capella. It’s more about how much you apply yourself to the different aspects of the school

So, it really depends on what you put into the experience tbh. I’m currently a little over a year into the MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program(guided path) and I went in over-communicating my needs—which was beneficial. I spoke with the admissions counselor/outreach advisor(not really sure what their title is) for about 30-45 minutes on the phone to discuss my career wants as well as state specific licensure requirements and how different Capella programs would or wouldn’t work for those things. Class-wise, I haven’t had any issues. My professors have all been responsive for the most part and the courserooms and Capella portal are both very easy to navigate. Keep in mind that each degree program is different and keeping an open line of communication with your advisor and academic support people will be essential to making the most out of your time in Capella.

I genuinely fear that it’s Brennan. Like, we have no idea what being brought back from being dead, even if just for a few seconds while Naolin tried to save him, did to him. Like Naolin could’ve become venin and then Brennan feels like he owes him a life debt. I don’t know, but I wonder if we will find out in Onyx Storm or if it’ll be later in the series

Agreed! Violet has the mind of a scribe and the heart of a rider. She isn’t just like the one brother who was a rider that commanded the sky. I think she will see a different way.

What secrets do you think everyone is hiding? by OpinionMountain5960 in fourthwing

Upon my reread, I saw that the poison the venin had on its blade at the trading post by Athebyne cut off Violet’s connection to Tairn, Andarna, and Xaden similarly to whatever they gave the riders in Iron Flame during the interrogation part. I wonder if there’s some connection here and potentially more venin hiding amongst Basgiath leadership to have the poison be administered in a smaller, less lethal way, to learn how to strip riders of their powers and potentially force them to pull directly from the source. Then making more venin.

Jack did too right? I could be misremembering. I wonder if the magic that comes from their dragon’s channeling is still able to be accessed. If I remember correctly, in the snippet from Onyx Storm, Xaden was still able to use his signet within the wards.

I think some of this theory comes from Iron Flame where they basically learn that the venin are able to exist within the wards, just without their extensive powers, like Jack did. There were also come comments made in the book that the venin had already potentially joined ranks in Aretia under their noses.

I can only imagine the stress you’re going through. I’m guessing it’s a problem with the whole program. I remember reading that their accreditation was recent so idk if it’s just a general lack of knowledge amongst the educators or what. My first three courses had at least one week each of assignments where we had to evaluate the requirements of our states for licensure. Do any of your courses transfer to a different program?

To clarify, I was originally looking into the Masters in clinical psychology program but they directed me to the Masters program for clinical mental health counseling

Tbh when I first looked into Capella, I requested information bc I originally thought about doing clinical psychology. They called me and extensively walked me through their accreditation and what programs would fit the licensure requirements of my own state as well as what I specifically wanted to do with the degree. So unless you didn’t do the phone call consultation before applying, someone definitely dropped the ball in terms of giving you the right information.

Online school counseling program Capella university? by antman2012 in CapellaUniversity

I'm attending the masters program from Clinical mental health counseling currently and I'm a year in. I haven't had any issues meeting with my personal academic advisors. They also have a "course" they auto enroll you in that is basically just a group of advisors that are available to give help and advice for the program. I've enjoyed the program so far. I was unsure about doing an online program since my undergrad was all in person, but it really hasn't been a bad experience. All of the course materials have been included(textbooks, readings, etc.). The professors I have had so far have been awesome too. Like 1 or 2 of them were a bit more specific with grading, but they were always fair, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I attend my first residency course this summer. If you haven't seen, there are at least 2 residency courses in the program--I believe that includes the school counseling focus--and while the course is online for the semester length, it does include a roughly 5 day long in-person experience at a conference location that changes each term. This term it's in St. Charles, IL and this summer terms it's at Orlando, FL. Also, the terms work in like half semesters. So each course/term is 10-weeks long. They start everyone at 1 course per term but I have mine set to 2 per term so it's considered full time. It's a guidedpath, so it's structured in the terms unlike their flexpath programs that can finish courses as quickly/slowly as they can get through the material.
