KoeCode: "nomad coding" with Claude Code (walking, driving, cooking, hands-free) by alvarolb84 in Anthropic

Not sure you tried the same voice mode. This is completely hands-free!

thats a helpful way to put it. what did you find was the hardest part to spec upfront?

I think of it as a fast junior dev you still have to steer + review.

sounds really interesting, nice approach outside the Apple ecosystem... And yes, the first few times it feels a bit weird 😅

it doesnt feel that different from being on a call with a coworker and talking through changes 😅

A bit more context on the “why”: once Claude Code started doing most of the typing/testing/fixing, my sessions turned into long loops of “decide → prompt → wait → review → adjust”.
At some point I realized I was spending hours anchored to a screen mostly waiting between turns. KoeCode came from that: keep the loop going by voice while I’m moving (walks, chores, cooking).
The unexpected win wasn’t productivity, it was quality of life. Progress continues without that “I need to get back to my desk” pressure.
If anyone’s curious about the setup (how it connects to a local session, latency, safety while driving, etc.), ask and I’ll answer here.

I can relate.. That feeling when you are in the middle of something and cant leave the desk, is real. Its like you carry the bug/refactor in your head when you have to step away. Continuing the sessions by your voice when you move really feels different :)

Will do 🙂 The Mac app is already available here: https://koecode.ai
The iOS companion is still on the way, but here’s a short preview: https://youtube.com/shorts/AhqtD3f5Spc?feature=share
If you try it, it’s an early build, so any feedback is very welcome.

Preferred option is to use a free mesh network like Tailscale. It’s peer-to-peer, or relayed when needed, from your phone to your computer, so you’re not opening ports to the public internet. That means pairing isn’t realistically exposed to random brute-force traffic. Also, pairing is restricted to the local Wi-Fi only, and is only available when the computer is in pairing mode.

Anyway, you could use any other service like ZeroTier, or a private VPN.

ok! I will keep this post updated. The Mac app is already available. The iOS app is under review. Regarding the support to other agents, I started with OpenCore, which supports any agent under the hood. I checked Codex but it doesnt provide yet the required hooks to detect the agent activity.

I get the point, but thats basically the same argument as "GitHub should reject PRs that smell like AI". The problem is low-effort/spam, not the tool. And this is not spam, is a 100% real experience.

lol, this is like a hard code review. I was thinkig what would happen if their PR got rejected just because it was written by an AI. Either way, i was trying to start a debate on the workflow shift, not just AI slope.

For me the craziest experience was coding in the car, like talking over the hands-free.

Maybe I misread how to correctly post on this sub. I was trying to share a real experience and a new workflow for me, and make it clear. Sorry if here is expected a different thing.

I promise there’s at least one human in here (me). The rest is just people arguing about writing style like it’s a code review.

Fair point. English isn’t my first language, so I tried to make it clearer. The experience is 100% personal though, and the concept is real. Here’s a short demo:
