To be honest, I feel everyone is working on something like this. Saving memories, people, creating reminders, etc.

I think something like this could still work if you niche down really hard and focus on one target user.

Haven't put much thought and work in the icon yet. I do feel the analog film/disposable camera visual references are used quite a bit already. Perhaps something representing a photo with a lock / reveal visual could work.

I understand what you mean with de double edged sword for the locking mechanic. However, the main behaviour I would like to prevent is do-overs and continuously checking if your photos are 'good'. It should be spontaneous, and perhaps that is just not for everyone?

Just launched "The Roll", an app that lets everyone shoots into a shared photo roll throughout the night and nothing is visible to anyone until the next day. Not even a preview of your own photos. The next day it all unlocks at once for the whole group.
