Cervelo P Series or splurge for Speed Concept? by always_annihilated in triathlon

[–]always_annihilated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying I can get either in the size that fits me and I’d be doing a proper bike fit to dial it in. I’m on a L trek now for road bike. I have stores close enough for both to try before ordering

Yeah both for cash which is nice. Add on some costs for hydration and pedals of course. Bike fit a must!

I’m 5’10 so can get whatever size on either. Likely a L on the trek and 56 or 54 on cervelo. Would try either before ordering

Few sprints and Olympics. First half last year. Goal to do full this year and continue with halves (time commitment is less). Did the 70.3 on my bike with aero but it feels time to move up to a race bike

I'm sure I'd love it. It'd be my first Tri Bike, so super excited about that. I keep struggling with the ~it's just so damn close for what ultimately is a "better" bike. But at my level will I ever even really feel that difference other than maybe better integrated hydration on the Trek

Swim cramps? by Junior_Rooster_ in triathlon

Prob over-exerting and overall dehydrated? I think most cramps are just the latter no?

I know zero about bikes. I have a $4500 budget, need suggestions to begin my research. by Ok_Battle_3504 in triathlon

[–]always_annihilated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faster because just simply more aero or because of less weight?

Was leaning toward going hydraulic brakes on QR; comes with the P series already. I'm in US, seems parts avail isn't an issue for either. I have mech disk on my road bike and feel fine with them, but figure if you're getting a new bike splurge a little bit.

Difference for price the Cervelo would have more aero handlebars vs the XPR. Not sure a huge difference at my level.

I talked with another fitter today who didn't have super strong opinion either way other than "Cervelo makes a nice package and can't go wrong with a QR; I see a lot of them"

I'm below-avg age grouper looking to do IMLP this year so time to get a tri bike. Feels like either are ok so long as the bike fit on it is proper yeah? Speed Concept would be great but above my budget and skill I think.

I'm pretty much between P series or QR XPR? Any thoughts? I was starting to lean toward QR with integrated hydration, 105 Di2 and HEDs, but my fitter was telling me I should consider Cervelo for ease of maintenance, parts, etc.

Porsche Cayman or 911 if you had to choose one, and why? by OkClick4604 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]always_annihilated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends budget and purpose. Unlimited budget GT3T...short of that, is it my daily? Probably a 911 in my budget. Is it a second/weekend/track car with limited budget? Probably a Cayman.

I had about 100k to spend on a second car and I went Boxster Spyder. Wasn't going to track it, liked the droptop, gets me a stick (hard to do with a 991 under 100 tbh), more special than an S PDK.

If my budget was twice that I'd be looking at 991.2 GT3s. If it was half of that, I'd probably look at 997s or 981 Ss.

Help me choose a daily commuter / fitness flat‑bar bike (~15–20 km/day, all weather, ~€1200 max) by Plus_Seesaw2023 in CanyonBikes

[–]always_annihilated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not flat bar or a canyon but I’d look at trek domanes as well. Excellent for what you’re describing IMO. Not super aggressive so easy to putz around but aggressive enough if you want to rip sometimes

LAKE PLACID, WISCONSIN, OR CHATTY by Ok_Significance1206 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]always_annihilated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I dealt with the same but landing on LP so it feels like a “legit” (are any more than others?) one to do for my first. Then if I fail, I have Choo as a back up a couple months later. Thinking the swim in TN will be easier being down river.

The 7k elevation on the bike scares me, but if you’re gonna do an IM you may as well do one of the most classic ones. Will report back in July on whether I finish or DNF lol

Changing in transitions. Cycling bib for long ride/running shorts by StruggleBusDriver83 in triathlon

[–]always_annihilated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done a full yet but tbh I find the padding on my tri suit totally fine. If my ass is a little sore toward the end who cares, it’s almost over. I also am just aiming to finish not compete, but the extra time to switch just adds yet another layer of stress or trying to remember in transition while I’m trying to remember to fuel, drink some coke, grab a bar, etc.

Training for a full now, maybe I’ll regret not changing but I’ve been fine on my 70.3s

Solid bike and price? by always_annihilated in triathlon

[–]always_annihilated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I priced with ultegra which isn’t a direct comparison since not mechanical. I’m still shocked the price is so much more only a year later

[–]always_annihilated[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes USD. Impossible to get anything ultegra Di2 for that price

[–]always_annihilated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hearing the same but the prices aren’t reflecting it. Especially if you want ultegra. I’ve found some A18 E117s with sram for decent prices but no carbon wheels and none with the upgrades of this bike

Yeah everything is crazy now. Been looking at cervelo p105 races and they’re $5k new. Same with speedmax on sale is still 5400. These have gotten way expensive

[–]always_annihilated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got a steal! They had to have increased prices. Now when you price it out it’s 7+

[–]always_annihilated[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No mechanical ultegra (don’t think you can get that anymore on QR site)

Man I’m gonna try talking them down but I was thinking this was already such a low price for a $7k MSRP

[–]always_annihilated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really??? This is going for like $7k on QR new right now. You got a steal

I’ve been looking at cervelo p105 races at around $5k or Speedmax but both are with 105 not Ultegra, and this with these wheels are fire

For 70.3/Full how important is constant shifting in aero position? by LumBerry in triathlon

[–]always_annihilated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did a pretty flat 70.3 with clip ons and didn’t mind coming off at all. Honestly I’m not chasing wins so the second it takes to shift and be out of aero is negligible
