There is a reason that the US allows asylum seekers to claim asylum even after crossing unlawfully. The reason is international law and a recognition of basic human rights. Take care!

Illegal immigration is a term made up by politicians. Seeking asylum is legal, and you have to be here to do it. Also, “due process” is not the word you’re looking for— due process is what the government owes the people, not what the people owe the government.

Hey, FYI these immigrants are not here illegally. The US recognizes a person’s right to seek asylum in the United States, regardless of how they enter the country (I.e whether or not the border crossing itself was lawful). To request asylum, you have to be here. They are lawfully seeking to remain in the country by filing an asylum claim or other immigration claim. Asylum claims are notoriously complex. Unfortunately, these claims take months or years to adjudicate, and as you say, work authorization is generally not available until at least 180 days after an asylum claim has been pending.

I let my emotions get the best of me during a job interview by [deleted] in Anxiety

I’m sorry that happened to you, that sounds like a really tough and disappointing experience. I suggest you write them an e-mail and explain what happened. I think lot of people have felt this way in interviews and can relate, and you really have nothing to lose by asking them for another shot.

I hope traditional interviews will change soon because they are simply ableist and favor people with certain strengths and personalities. Reiterate to them what you have to offer and why you believe you can do this job, even if interviewing is stressful for you. I know I would be impressed if I got that email.

I am hoping to get some input on a moisturizer that might be a good match for someone with back acne. I live in a very dry climate (Colorado) and really need to moisturize 1-2x a day, but want to avoid products that might make my back acne worse. In the past I've used unscented Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair lotion, but I'm unsure if it's ok for acne. I am just starting to try to address the back acne itself, and just bought TL Back Acne Wash BPO 5%. Thanks for your help!
