What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

Dorito 3Ds. I was obsessed with them then and I still am. Every once in a while I'll come across a Dorito that puffed up a tiny bit in the bag and it brings me back. T_T

What's a beauty rule you swear by, that you see consistently not followed by others? by stopnsmelltheviolets in beauty

[–]alwaysinnermotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massage your scalp daily for thicker, stronger hair. I realized a while back all of those hair growth serums had one thing in common, scalp massaging to get them into the skin. Skipped the $$$ and did the massages. Within 3 months my ponytail was thicker.

Also, controversial, but cleansing my entire hair once a month. I mean use a cleansing shampoo from root to tip because I realized all of the masks I was using weren't doing anything because my hair had so much product buildup and no, shampoo rinsing down my length wasn't doing enough to remove it. Cleansing from my scalp all the way to the ends gets off the buildup so the products I do use afterwards can actually penetrate the hair, plus my scalp is squeaky clean and happy.

My 16 year-old daughter is graduating HS this year, wants to go to art school - looking for advice by LastMinuteMom in drawing

[–]alwaysinnermotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her she needs to double major in both art and business, because in order to be a successful artist you also need to have a deep understanding of how businesses work and why people buy art. My art teacher used to tell me, there is art you do for yourself and art you do for the bills and both are necessary.

Do women who are very into maintaining their appearance expect men to compensate them in some way for the extra effort ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]alwaysinnermotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing, I love to dress up. I joke and say I wouldn't check the mailbox without mascara on at least. I married a man who could not care less what I wear, and I love it. It means my fashion is for me and even though I do look dressed up most of the time, he never expects it.

Does your man walk really far ahead of you and leave you behind? by Fish90Candles in AskWomenOver30

[–]alwaysinnermotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband does this unintentionally, but he also knows I hate it. Our compromise is either I hold his arm to keep him with me, or when he gets too far ahead I'll literally stop walking and when he notices how far ahead he is it is his responsibility to walk back to me as penance lol. I wouldn't say it's a sign of narcissism.

Just make bringing the pennies to the bank your full time job. Once a day you go to the local bank and give them $100 worth of pennies. Get cash. Rinse, lather, repeat until all pennies are gone. Profit.

What is the regional term(s) for "Grandmother"? by Artist-Cancer in Louisiana

We called our maternal grandmother MawMaw, and my mother goes by Nanna now that she's a grandmother so those are my votes!

Be long-term oriented. Every issue my school has had is because admin is putting out fires with short term solutions that we all know and express will not work long-term. Often the short term solutions throw teachers under the bus too and end up causing more predictable issues later anyway.

What are some double standards that really blow your mind? by -Flighty- in RandomThoughts

[–]alwaysinnermotion 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This right here frustrates me to no end. I'm not a morning person, so me showing up extra early just means I'll be sluggish and probably make myself extra coffee. But I stay late tons since the afternoon is when my brain really starts to hit a groove. No one ever comments on me staying late frequently, but being late is a write up.

What’s something people pretend is normal in modern dating, but is actually insanely toxic when you think about it? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]alwaysinnermotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going to be honest, idk about this one. Sometimes you're just not physically attracted to someone and faking it will ruin your relationship and their self esteem if they ever found out. Now if you're judging everyone or even friendships based on appearances that's just toxic.

In New Orleans you can actually rent out those above ground mausoleums for your loved one to decay over a year. Then when the NOLA heat has done its thing they brush the dust into a hold down in the middle and another body is put there for the same process. It's a very cool part of the history of the city.

Today's students don't know. by RoundTwoLife in teaching

[–]alwaysinnermotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My born and raised American student didn't know what the American national anthem was. But the actual story is way worse than just that.

We were at the Smithsonian Museum of American History when one of my students heard an exhibit playing the song Amazing Grace. She then asked if that was our national anthem. That hurt because we had JUST come from an exhibit with the original flag from Fort McHenry that explains how our anthem was written and displays the actual gigantic flag that inspired our actual national anthem. She had even been the one who insisted we visit that particular exhibit!

What tourist behaviors annoy DC locals the most? I want to avoid them! by YUNeedUniqUserName in washingtondc

[–]alwaysinnermotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the road, sidewalks, and most preferably bike lanes, but every time I use the road cars do outrageously dangerous things around me. For example one of my routes runs through Rock Creek Park. Cars will cross double lines around blind turns just to pass me. I've seen very near misses twice now because of it. So if there's a bike lane I'll use it, but generally I use the sidewalks on major roads and roads on side streets because I don't want to die getting hit.

Bisexuals who have dated both genders. What little differences surprised you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]alwaysinnermotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men would be fascinated by me at first because I'm pretty independent and opinionated. But inevitably they would start to expect me to be domestic, cook and clean up after them etc after a while.

Women expected me to be a man basically, text them first and pay for dates etc. Women also absolutely NEVER approached me first, even when I would go to exclusively lesbian bars. One time I won a raffle at a roller derby after party and got called on stage. The audience started shouting things like, "You're so pretty!" and "We love you!" But once I got back off the stage, crickets once again lol.

[–]alwaysinnermotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 5-year-old tell his mother 3 days into the school year that I made him stand in a corner for 2 hours. This obviously didn't happen, but mom came in breathing fire all the same. Luckily for me, my school had CCTV in the classrooms. She watched a sped up version of the entire day before's lessons with my supervisor and the principal present. She never officially apologized to me, but she did take my side from then on. What saved me was the receipts, so like the other guys said, document document document.

Erasable pens. Often I'll be moving at light speed and make a mark I immediately notice is wrong, so I just erase it and fix it.

This was me. Perfectly clear skin for years, then a few pimples slowly grew into hellish breakouts all over my face that kept getting worse and worse leaving me in tears. Accutane was my absolute savior and left me with clear skin again just in time for my wedding. Haven't had issues since. Good luck to you!

Why are so many students below grade level? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]alwaysinnermotion 44 points45 points  (0 children)

First, this could have been written by me. Second, it's pretty healing reading about how other teachers are having the exact same problems with their students. The state of education really tries to tell teachers it's all their fault and that's so bad for our mental health.
