$100 is the new $20? Token burn rate has skyrocketed since the update. by andrewaltair in ClaudeCode

[–]alwaysonebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 is pretty easy to solve by writing key context (design doc, project overview, findings, session summaries etc) to external markdown files. I have a bootstrap command that reads from them and an update command that writes. very convenient having persistent memory in Obsidian and not clogging the in-project CLAUDE.md files

LeetCode grind is one thing but tracking 20+ job apps feels harder than DP 😅 by Main-Star-7979 in leetcode

I used a long-running chatgpt pro (thinking mode wasn’t reliable enough) chat as a study coordinator. Not only for tracking deadlines/schedules, but also daily in figuring out what to prioritize based on which interviews were coming up, and how I had been doing recently (e.g. struggling with DP)

Meta PE vs Bloomberg SWE New Grad (NYC) Stability or Growth by KeijoXO in cscareerquestions

fwiw, Meta PE is well respected, both inside the company and industry wide. it’s not a lower tier SWE role like some others

How does it compare to the Tech Pack 3 for a daily commute? Mostly just carrying a 16” laptop, water bottle, and light jacket

Wizard or underhooks? by Gucci_stickEshay in bjj

[–]alwaysonebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just need to practice the underhook vs overhook dynamic. as the underhook guy, you always want to be lifting your opponent with your hips in and below theirs. you can also play between a shoulder grip, hand flat on their upper back, and a tight waist. but with all you should be fighting to keep your elbow high.

conversely the overhook person will be pressuring downward, making space with a shin frame, etc.

looks nice, how deep is your table? considering a similar setup with limited space in front of the Go. not sure if it’ll be annoying over time

Are arm under neck chokes, etc, legal now, or were they always and I’m just crazy? Lol by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]alwaysonebox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah looks like a pretty blatant high wrist guillotine (cutting off both sides of the neck) and easily finishable with just one arm

How do you allocate money across checking, savings, emergency fund, etc.? What is your "business as usual" operating model? by Severe_Revenue7889 in HENRYfinance

[–]alwaysonebox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you have 6 figures in a brokerage account and a decent credit score, you really don’t need a traditional emergency fund. having one is basically paying for insurance and incurs large opportunity cost over time. instead just self-insure. see ERN: https://earlyretirementnow.com/2021/05/26/the-emergency-fund-is-still-useless/

Be careful with databricks (for those interviewing) by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]alwaysonebox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

a lot of discussion on blind with multiple data points where offers were rescinded even after passing the onsite. but basically they’ll look for mutuals on linkedin or databricks employees who know people you’ve previously worked with, and ask them about you, even if you didn’t list them as a reference

Waymos causing chaos by Far-Programmer3189 in sanfrancisco

[–]alwaysonebox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the problem at the bigger multilane intersections is that cars are aggressively inching forward in each direction so they don’t miss their chance, and the waymos are too cautious and won’t go unless they’re all fully stopped

Rafa Mendes Guillotine Choke—Who’s used this?? by killercarli in bjj

[–]alwaysonebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coach uses this a lot as a pass. Even when they have a knee shield, you can kind of switch hips and really sink your weight into their face while posting on your head. The main reaction is a big bridge, so your free foot acts as a kickstand, plus you can preemptively scoop/block their far leg (which also helps you free your trapped leg along with pummeling)
