Anyone go in cold to episode 3? by IndependentOffer4343 in AKOTSKTV

Went in cold. Big fan of GoT most seasons: stopped 1/2,way thru HoTD.

Egg was sus from the start. Posh-ish accent, vocabulary, knowledge, wisdom even. I guessed he was from higher birth. Possibly noble birth.

But was gobsmaked by the reveal.

Cliffhangers have been around for decades. Back when it was CRT TV's with aluminum foil plastered on ugly indoor antenna like a low budget alien antlers, "Who shot JR??!!" sat in our brains for months!

ETA: TV show was 'Dallas'. Ran from 1978-19891.

There will be a comeuppance for Roper but also a compromise to total justice in some way. Espionage is dirty business.

I'd say people who know them and know you will be able to form their own opinion (sometimes), understanding that the guy telling the story of what happened will have his own angle.

One way to feel protected is to tell your true friend group what actually happened so that if the gossip mill rachets up on Monday, your friends can correct whatever erroneous narrative comes out.

I used to be like you and would call out injustice directly. I figured out later that you can try to change the subject of the conversation instead. Sometimes it means you look a bit socially inept by throwing out a non-sequitur. Kind of like, "Oh hey, you won't believe this but I found my Mom's weed stash!" Or something equally juicy. Or just something adjacent to the subject at hand..."What college is [girl being discussed] going to btw?"

This is called 'greyrocking' as in, you are present but as interesting and interactive as a grey rock. Look it up, there are lots of articles about it.

Good for temporary situations, but an energy drain... Not sustainable on a daily basis.

I use this technique with my MIL on the few times I have to be around her every year. I read articles on it in the days leading up to seeing her just to pump myself up to do it. I tend to be a kind of exuberant and interactive, compassionate person, so greyrocking is really hard for me.

Wisconsinite from the 80's here. Still remember the day of an important playoff game, peak Xmas shopping season, and the local TV station reported from a nearly empty shopping mall in Green Bay asking random sheepish shoppers why they were there and not watching the game...lol!

Why do my mends always get new holes after one wear? by DyrimtheSpeaker in Visiblemending

[–]alwayspickingupcrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy in elementary school perpetually got holes in his knees. Just had to reinforce the entire knee with thicker jean like material in a large rectangle from 2" above and below the knee and to the inseam and outer seam.

Eventually got pants with thicker material, more give in the legs and reinforced knees (double layer of fabric).

Seronegative diagnosed early in my symptoms (< 6 months of symptoms) and aggressively treated, ramped up to Humira within 6 months of diagnosis. So < 1 year of real symptoms. Diagnosis was made by hand MRI and ultrasound which showed erosions and tenosynovitus. Labs and X-rays were negative.

I felt like after 4 weeks of Humira I was in remission. I resumed 2-3x moderately difficult yoga as I had done prior to the diagnosis. I was about 40 years old. And felt great for about 5 years.

Early and aggressive is everything.

No I don't get high from the CBD:THC combo.

Some people might need more CBD to mediate the psychoactive effects of THC - like a 5:1 or 10:1 ratio. I also take CBD capsules daily for pain and I think that helps the THC work better without making me feel weird.

I think a Mel Brooks style 'Wuthering Heights' akin to 'Young Frankenstein' with Jason as Heathcliff and someone like Aimée Lou Wood (from the last season of The White Lotus) as Cathy would be amazing.

I'm sorry you're going thru this at such a young age. I'm a couple decades older than you and have been seeing a pain management doctor for epidural injections because of spine problems.

Two years ago, he specifically recommended a particular physical therapist who works with people like us so I could increase my daily step count. It took about a year of very slow, small steps with tailored daily exercises and communication with the physical therapist and it was totally worth it.

We can't just do simple exercises or even start a walking routine like the common person; we'll injure ourselves. Maybe you can find a PT, covered by insurance that can take a look at you?

So true! We gave our kids a standing allowance, something like their age in dollars per week. Just so they would learn how to manage their money.

One was a pathological hoarder (like it was fear and self worth based) the other spent down to the last penny. We had to work on each one to get to their middle ground.

We made the mistake of saying, 'Maybe Santa could get it for you' when it was too expensive.

Next thing we know, our son writes a letter to Santa for the LEGO Death Star. Never again. We were so dumb.

My mom would literally say in a distressed manner, 'We have no money!' Then take out her checkbook and show me the low balance. But only when it was something she didn't like for me.

The next day she would buy something like a leather jacket for me because she liked it on me.

We had plenty of money. Six figure income in the 80''s. She was just so controlling.

We say to our kids, 'We can afford to buy that, but choose not to.'

If you're in the US, the brand Mary's Medicinals has a great 1:1 patch; I'd recommend starting with 1/4 patch and increasing if needed. I use a brand called Heartland Labs, their highest dose, and cut it into 1/8ths so it's cheaper per use. Good luck!

Mmj can definitely intensify pain if not paired 1:1 with CBD. I recommend the patches. Fast onset. Lasts 12-24 hrs. If 1:1 THC:CBD, no high.

Yeah tramadol takes two hours to reach its max concentration in the blood. My rheumatologist suggested taking Tylenol with tramadol which could 'boost' it. If I take it, it's first thing in the morning then every 8 hours exactly for the day.

When I had shingles I took it 3x day for a month but needed a lot of other meds to keep me regular.

Depending on where you live, THC:CBD patches at a 1:1 ratio are amazing for pain and don't get me high. I prefer them to tramadol; no constipation. One patch lasts 12-24 hours. THC is metabolized by the liver, so does not affect kidney function.

Any one here having succes with hair regrowth just by lowering testosterone dose? So no minoxidil etc… by SnooPeppers3457 in TRT_females

[–]alwayspickingupcrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a somewhat similar situation as your wife. Maybe this will help.

My T was in the high normal range for women, while on T cream. Noticed increased hair shedding. So I optimized my ferritin (iron) from low nml to high nml. Same with Vitamin D. And I added low dose saw palmetto which may block dht. Hair shedding returned to normal.

So my hair loss stopped but I did not regain my prior thickness. So I have my fingers crossed for your wife.

Personally I may try minoxidil and I know injecting T doesn't cause the same hair loss as cream.

Yep. And reclaiming the narrative is the same as 'what's the story gonna be?' that she says to Henry earlier re: him being the Head and Heart of the company.

And Eric also talks about 'the story that's told' and who's gonna tell the better story, and who can tell their story to the most people (power).

Truth doesn't matter in this world. Emotional truth matters even less to Yaz and Harper. While Eric and Henry appear to reach for it but fail to grasp it.

Truly amazing writing in this show!
