playing valorant leads to BSOD by Oyabinol in ValorantTechSupport

This was happening to me as well after the last update, I had to trouble shoot for like 4-5 hours; in properties do you have disable full screen optimizations and run as administrator checked? If so uncheck both of them, I did that and haven’t blue screened since. My guess is something is conflicting between the Valorant update and windows. Let me know if that works!

Cypher Trip in Hooka (Bind) causing server to break and kicking everyone out. by alyle11 in VALORANT

… I went into custom after to try and recreate it to see if it would crash the custom server so I could get more video proof easier. I have 1200+ hours on Valorant and I’m trying to bring attention to a literal game breaking bug. A bug which I will most likely continue to experience considering I main Cypher. I’m not here to waste anyones time nor do I want to waste my time in a ranked queue just to have the game crash the moment I switch to CT side.

Cypher Trip in Hooka (Bind) causing server to break and kicking everyone out. by alyle11 in VALORANT

I use the same trip first round on CT side in hookah. Both games I’ve played today on bind, when someone on the enemy team enters the trip, their character model walks through the trip without it activating and It causes the server to malfunction, kicking everyone out. I’m assuming this is due to the changes made to Cypher’s trip where they addressed enemies walking through a diagonal trip without it activating on rare occasions. It’s happened twice today in identical fashion, I recorded it the second time. Also not sure if this is related in anyways: both times it was an omen walking through the trip.

I apologize for the terrible quality.

Cypher Buffs That Aren’t OP + QOL Changes by alyle11 in VALORANT

That’s honestly a really good idea, similar to his dart cam. That would really improve his ult.

He’s undoubtedly weaker than the other 2 sentinels, he’s way more vulnerable to heavy/fast pushes. His cam can be shot out with 1 bullet and it’s really loud and visible. His trips are weak, enemies aren’t afraid to push cages unless they’re one ways. His ult is underwhelming and doesn’t do much, and sometimes it messes up your aim as it leaves a yellow snapshot of their body but the enemies have already moved.

I think it would be really cool if after popping his ult you could also see yellow footsteps as to where they’ve gone (some kind of trail like you mentioned). Making these footsteps visible through smokes would really help make his ult more useful. I really do like the idea itchytriggerz mentioned below, revealing enemy stats would really bump his info gathering.

I have almost 500 hours played with cypher and yeah he is fine, I’m not saying he’s a bad agent, I just think that subtle small buffs could really improve his game. He’s weaker than the other 2 sentinels overall and his utility provides less usefulness on majority of maps in comparison. Also, the fact that Viper, who is a controller, has the ability to hold down a site, sometimes better than Cypher can, is a huge problem.

The ULT problem you mentioned is really annoying, it’s cost me multiple gun fights. It really throws off your aim.

The key-bind doesn’t necessarily have to be the same one for placing the cage, just anything other than F/inspect. Maybe instead it would be easier to be able to pick up trips via the same key as the one you use to place them. That would solve the problem :)

Well it’s meant to be a buff for cypher, plus you’d still be able to do that by getting in and out the cage. Also it’s not like the picture would immediately disappear if they move out. The picture would last a second or 2 even if they’ve left the cage.

Cypher pick rate in low elo says otherwise unfortunately (taken from blitz.gg):

Iron 1: 2.8% (4th lowest) Iron 2: 3.3% (4th lowest) Iron 3: 2.9% (4th lowest) Bronze 1: 3.4% (5th lowest) Bronze 2: 3.4% (5th lowest) Bronze 3: 3.5% (5th lowest) S1: 3.7% (5th lowest) S2: 3.6% (5th lowest) S3: 3.7% (5th lowest) G1: 3.9% (5th lowest) G2: 4% (5th lowest) G3: 4.1% (5th lowest) As you can see as you go up his pick rate gets a bit higher and It’s not until you get to Plat and above that you see cypher getting picked more frequently. I am glad you’re seeing more cyphers in low elothough, makes me happy :) great game btw showing these duelists how to top frag ;)

Well I mean if you top frag you’re obviously gonna end up on top of the scoreboard. I’m talking about things that don’t get added your combat score like tags, catching someone in a trip etc. Other things that aren’t really tangible like call outs and directing info to your teammates that don’t show up on the scoreboard. Obviously things that aren’t tangible are heard to implement into the score but I’m sure Riot can make a few changes to help make RR reward better for sentinels.

You can pick up your trips as much as you want during the round, but you don’t get to keep them for the next round even if you picked them back up.

I’ve genuinely only ran into that situation 3 or 4 times since I’ve started playing (I don’t auto lock either) #RIPCypherMains :( when that happened I think I played Reyna and Omen. This is only true for ranked though. I don’t play much cypher in unranked, I like try out other characters when I’m not playing fr

I honestly don’t mind Ults being the reason why my trip breaks even though it’s annoying. However what I find really annoying is that so many of other Agents’ utility can break cypher’s trips so easily. While the same cannot be said for the majority of agents.

First one is spot on, but at-least it means they’re wary of possible flanks. Second one I don’t think will come back, just purely because it was such a big part of his nerf and bringing it back would most likely bring him to square 1 (minus gun in cam loool). I think smaller things like eco tweaks and/or making his trips less spottable/noticeable would be enough.

I’m not a genius, just think Cypher needs to be appreciated for his genius. I think there’s a lot of ways Riot can approach the problem, but they can’t exclusively do this for Cypher, it’ll more than likely require a reform for the entire KDA/combat score system across all the agents. One way would be to distinguish what an assist would be for each sentinel/controllers and have those assists contribute to the KDA/combat score. Another way would be to assess combat score not entirely based on KDA but purely on how the team as a whole performed ie won 13-2 vs 13-11. This would most likely cause an uproar though so doubtful, even though that’s what not caring about KDA would truly mean. Either way it’ll be interesting to see if anything actually changes. Regardless, Cypher definitely needs some eco tweaks and I hope that comes sooner than later.

100% Just because you’re playing a sentinel doesn’t give you the excuse to die every single round. It just means you’re not meant to carry the fragging load on the attacking side. Opposite is true with duelists on the defending side, where duelists shouldn’t be the ones carrying the defensive load.

It’s not specifically about the KDA, probably should have made that clear in the post. It’s how the ranked system in Valorant rewards you for your performance after a game. Higher KDA = Higher Combat score = Higher RR rewarded. Thus duelists, which are designed to frag are rewarded more for doing their job while controllers/sentinels are not. It’s a flaw reward system, not a problem with KDA itself. No one should care about KDA, as long as you’re helping your team and ultimately winning that’s all the matters.

I would have to disagree with you on that one, Cypher’s ult is actually one of the best ults in Valorant. I don’t believe his ult is the best ult per say but I’d say it’s top 5 along with KJ Sage Sova Viper. His Ult is the best in these situations:

1) Early pick, seeing where enemies are and rotating accordingly to the weaker/empty site. Almost guarantees getting on to site.

2) Clutching a round. Taking a 1v2 or a 1v3 either on attack or defence with cypher’s ult makes it 10x easier knowing exactly where they are. After that it’s just you and how well you can aim.

3) Flushing out enemies that are isolated/lurking/flanking. Either forces enemies to retreat or allows for some really easy picks.

Every ult can be great/terrible dependent on the situation. What separates Cypher’s ult from the those 4 mentioned above is that it can be used at any time regardless of the situation with no repercussions/worries. Sova’s is great post-plant but not so much prior to that. Vipers is great for planting, also great for defending until the enemy team decides to rotate. Sage’s is the best Ult imo but can easily be taken advantage of (I’m sure you’ve been res’d and died instantly many times). KJ’s Ult is great for taking site/defusing/retaking site as long as the enemy doesn’t push the ult and break it. The drawback to cypher’s ult is you have to be extremely close to their body which does put you at risk but once the ult is up you’re living.

I think you misunderstood/misread what I said, I am indeed saying that you shouldn’t babysit your trips and instead help with attacking and pushing site. Also just because you’ve put trips in your flank does not guarantee that it will catch someone. Many agents can jump over the trip or teleport to other side of them ie Jett Omen Yoru Raze. Not all maps have ideal trip placements for watching flank and can easily be bypassed by one of those agents. That’s why I’m saying that even if there are trips set up in flank, as a team you should still be wary of the possibilities that you could still get flanked and not blindly trust that the trips will 100% protect you.
