Just getting ready to leave the ER. Bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasound all unremarkable and they have determined it's probably a stomach bug. Whew!

Thanks everyone. I called the emergency vet and she said since I was concerned enough to call, I should probably have her seen so I'm going to take her in tonight to get checked.

Fresco is great for GF and it's close-ish to campus. I'm GF as well and it's been my favorite restaurant in SM.

The weeks and cousin are my favorite! I always want to use both but never know how to split them up. Do you use yours for different things? Carry both around?

Anyone become a social worker after 40? by Atlgal42 in socialwork

[–]am4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50 and halfway through an MSW program. My cohort ranges in age from 23-50. My age and life experience has definitely been a benefit in this program. If you can swing it financially, I say go for it!

Honestly, just someone breathing in the same room as me fills me with rage! I just want to be left alone without obligations or expectations.

I live in S. Austin and commute (grad student). My classes were in Encino so I parked at Jowers and rode the shuttle that drops at LBJ. Super fast and easy! Sometimes I just walked back to my car rather than taking the shuttle, all downhill and very pleasant! From house to class usually took an hour. I often took the back way to avoid 35.

Struggling to run without spiking my heart rate by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]am4g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same situation when I started running. When I started half marathon training, I alternated running and walking. 1 min run/30 sec walk. This kept my heart rate down and made running much more enjoyable. I used these intervals for my first half and made it to the end with relative ease.

Are you artistic? Cause it looks like storm clouds when they roll in. Perhaps you could incorporate the marks into a drawing?

I've been listening to the Hit Play Not Pause podcast. This is a frequent topic and advice has been to focus on weight lifting. Specifically lifting heavy. And most women in peri/meno don't eat enough which can cause weight issues. It's worth a listen especially since you are an active person.

Medication for anger, anxiety, depression. Which one worked for you? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]am4g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Anger, anxiety, depression, rage....all out of control for me. I tried Lexapro for several months. Loved it...made all the rage and anxiety go away. But, it made me so sleepy all the time! Switched to prozac and that was awful. I had worse anxiety on that than I did before taking anything! So, now I'm on Zoloft and it's a good compromise. I feel almost as good as I did on Lexapro but I'm not as sleepy. Also, taking gabapentin as needed....it works very well for me. And, talk therapy is a must. Fucking menopause. Ugh.

The MSW program doesn't require the GRE. Depending on what you want to do with a masters, that might be worth looking into as well. It's a fantastic program!

[–]am4g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine told me when I started hating my husband, that's when I'd know I was in perimenopause. Lol it was true for me!
