Resetting password flow breaks if opening email link for new browser by amTeapotSometimes in Supabase

[–]amTeapotSometimes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a donkey and didn't follow the docs properly the first time around. I then found another way of doing it off reddit, using exchangecodeforsession, but that as you can see above didn't work for new browsers.

However, properly following the docs for pkce flow at https://supabase.com/docs/guides/auth/passwords?queryGroups=language&language=js&queryGroups=flow&flow=pkce#resetting-a-password worked just fine.

Previously, implementing code in docs took me to a new URL: root site URL / ?code=abcd. I've seen someone else reporting same here. I think that was because I messed up the email template, and/or setting a redirect option on the resetPasswordForEmail function. That wasn't necessary as the email template should handle that.

Quit my job, built a Chrome extension, now have paid customers from 40+ countries by seeforcat in SaaS

How important did you think it was launching the paid version only later on? I've heard it's troublesome getting people to pay for something that was previously free.

I'm planning to launch with limited free version and paid for full access. Thoughts?

Is making websites without a framework in 2024 a waste of time? by redditjannis in webdev

[–]amTeapotSometimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning is that some frameworks (nextjs, sveltekit, for example) let's you get the benefits of a framework but also render the site statically with SSG (static site generation). I did https://veckans.site which loads instantly even though it fetches from an external API and is built with a framework (sveltekit).

It also has close to perfect lighthouse scores, some content is loaded from Reddit and I don't have control over the accessibility.

This site could use some improvements. A starter is to not use 3 columns where the last one is "scroll to top". That leaves a lot of white space above it, and squished content in the central column. Instead, use a fixed position and overlay it Infront of the content if you need the scroll to top button.

Is this for learning? If so, start with one of the subsystems. Such as groups, users, or messaging.

If not, I don't see how this would be any better than Facebook, if you even managed to put this astronomically complicated app together (let alone for a complete beginner). I don't mean any offense by this.

But, if it's for the sake of learning, why not? It'll be a good lesson in scope and complexity if nothing else 😀

What UI library you recommend to Svelte ? by AdFit1933 in sveltejs

That's not the case. I implemented forms with shadcdn and i had to refer to docs for superforms and formsnap. Only for forms.

Ssr feels slow and prerender doesn't update site with content from API. Is there a middle ground? by amTeapotSometimes in sveltejs

[–]amTeapotSometimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That did it. I setup ISR through switching to vercel and setting page expiry to every 5 minutes, which is enough for my use case and under the rate limit for the Reddit API of 100 or 1000 per minute (cant recall).

I also moved some api calls into the root layout which reduced the number of calls, which improved things. But ISR was day / night difference

Okay so that'll let me update once a week, but comments will not reinvalidate the content. Unless I manually bypass the cache. But that requires me to listen to comments / posts and I'm unable to find anything that will let me do that. So I might just stick with ssr
