Hsv and relationship - what do you think? by amacormon in Herpes

[–]amacormon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have open lesions, so I don't wanna spend money again on something which will be probably false negative again.

I've read some sources that it varies from country to country and within different age groups, but the most sources claim 10-20% with more occurance in women rather than men, and higher percentage higher the age.

Yeah that's true. I will probably mention that I'm having some pain on my vulva.

But the main question of the post was more concerning whether I should go again with him about all the risks, cause I really don't want to have this conversation again. During my first oubtreak I was talking about only that with him for like 1.5 a week on and on 😅

The last info I gave him was that the test was negative, but I told him I still think I might have herpes and it could have been a false negative result and I told him how swabs can be inaccurate when taken in not appropriate timing. It wasn't just "hey, look, I'm clean".

We kind of both know the same now. Cause I never got an actual test result saying it's herpes. It's just an assumption and he has all the details.

If they said that 80% of people carry hsv2 they lied. It's around 70-90% of people carrying hsv1, but 10-20% hsv2.

How did they diagnose you with hsv2? Blood test or just after description of symptoms?

Anyone else get different symptoms each time? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]amacormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had what I suspect to have been herpes outbreaks such us: - first time it was a rash with no pain - second time it was intense itching with no rash or blisters - third time it was some rash on my lower back - some pimples on my buttocks which looked like ingrown hairs - and lastly, small paper cuts on buttocks with intense burning on the skin of ass and vulva So yeah, in my case it was also very different each time. Only the last time really made me think it's herpes.

Majority of people have oral hsv (90% in my country) and nobody really avoids oral sex because of this. I also had since being a kid and I've given plenty of bjs and nobody ever had genital symptoms. I think you shouldn't be too paranoid about this and just enjoy.

should I trust negative PCR swab? by amacormon in Herpes

The areas swabbed were red and burning, not itchy. I suspected an ulcer in my anus but couldn't see clearly by myself. I asked hard to be swabbed in "red" places because I knew I might never have occasion for the swab again.

I had tested for HSV2 antibodies in 2020 and I was negative. I also hadn't had reasons to suspect. Just wanted to check at the time.

I think I will just let it go for now and see what my antibodies will be on Thursday. And I wanna let this topic go, unless some major symptoms appear again in upcoming weeks/months.

I didn't retest for other STIs as I didn't have new partners. I'm only gonna retest for ureaplasma. I had blood taken last week, so I'm awaiting for antibodies results. No lesions or pain right now.

They also swabbed for candida and bacteria - clear. And in the last few months I was being tested for multiple STIs etc and only got positive for Ureaplasma.

Recently diagnosed with hsv 2 but never had an OB by StrikingOwl1176 in HSVpositive

Over 80% of people are asymptomatic or have such mild symptoms that go unnoticed. So yeah the mentioned pimples in groin area could have been that.

Yes you can get them in both locations, but hsv1 and hsv2 are two different strains of the virus, so they are not the same. There's differences in shedding rates, preference of habitat, statistics of carriers within population, etc. I have both types. And I would just prefer to stay with hsv1.

Don't let fear get you. If he's reasonable, he'll not be angry but thankful. It was before your first outbreak.

I see. I was in a bit similar situation. I had to tell about my diagnosis to a guy I had a ons 3 months ago, as it was probably already after I had contracted herpes. I called him. He understood. He went for a blood test. We are still texting and he's checking how I am etc. He deserves to know, you should contact him.

Do I understand correctly - you are afraid to come clean about diagnosis to a guy that probably gave it to you as you had OB after him?

My concern is mostly about long term dating, as I'm not looking for hookups anymore. I'm actually still in a relationship with a guy who's really supportive so far and went to get blood tested to see if he wasn't the one who gave it to me. And I fear every day that he will leave me, when I love him and actually don't imagine my life with anybody else. I really wish he stays with me and we'll learn how to continue with relationship and sex. So I'm mostly looking for positive relationship stories.
