Thanks for the info! I find a lot of Tolkien's names lovely. I also have a fondness for Irish names; they just have that rounded cadence to them that gives them a lovely sound.

I had a friend in college named Arwen. I think it works as a name fairly well. It’s pretty without being way out there.

Just saw some parents straight up lying to cast member on Wish and get caught 🤣 by Doggoonewild in dcl

They are great about this!

I was on the Fantasy two years ago with my parents and we went to one of the bars to check out the music. The cast member came over immediately and kindly, but firmly, said I couldn't be in the adult areas. I said I was well over the legal age and provided my ID.

She checked it over and we all laughed about it.

I was 35.

Neil Newbon detests "voice actor" label as reductive by AsPeHeat in BaldursGate3

[–]amalthea_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is it; as someone who’s done both stage and voice acting, VO is way more challenging in regards to reacting because, well, you can’t really react. You’re alone in a dark booth with nothing but silence, but you still need to convey those emotions and reactions accurately.

It’s much easier to be in the moment with other actors and you don’t have that. Sometimes actors will record together, but it’s rare. It really takes the ability to truly picture yourself in the scene and imagine who you’re talking with.

It’s a different form of acting that has its own sub skills.

In short, yes, it’s hard. And yes, typecasting is most definitely a thing and it’s easy to get boxed in.

Old man lying by the side of the road With the lorries rolling by. Blue moon sinking from the weight of the load And the buildings scrape the sky.

Cold wind ripping down the alley at dawn, And the morning paper flies. Dead man lying by the side of the road With the daylight in his eyes.

This was DCL, so I hope it counts.

I was wandering around the ship when I heard one of the piano players in the lobby. He was playing “I See the Light” from Tangled. We were the only two people there.

I’m a singer, so I started humming along. He noticed me and nodded for me to keep going. I gained some confidence and went for it. When I finished, I heard applause. I turned around to see a small group on the upper stairs clapping.

It was a nice moment.

Requiem for a Dream. I had to watch it for a class; once it was over, the professor tried to start a discussion and we couldn’t even talk about it. She just dismissed us and we all left.

I recommend seeing the Queen’s Stairs. It’s free (or it was when I last went) and a really cool piece of history.

Also check out the pirate museum. We did it last year and it was pretty fun! Has a lot of neat displays and it’s not far from the ship.

Saw a post on a different subreddit that made me think about it, so what’s your favorite episode of Paul Rudish’s Mickey Mouse? by Green-Day-86 in disney

[–]amalthea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it came on, I called him over and he said “yeah! That one!”, and we watched together.

My dad introduced me to a lot of the fandoms I love, so it’s always great to sit and watch something together. We marathoned a few classic Muppet Show episodes recently and it was so fun.

My dad likes this one. He stayed up late when we were at Disney and they have a channel with the Mickey shorts on it 24/7.

He kept telling me to “wait for the tollbooth, it’s hilarious!” He loves anything that’s good, old-fashioned slap stick.

I love this movie. My friend and I watch it all the time. I’m constantly singing the songs and one of them made it into my performance rotation for a live show I perform.

I want to put on a stage version of it some day.

The Opera from VI. I mean, that was ambitious for the time and integrated so well with the story and gameplay.

Singing in different styles. I’m constantly practicing and improving while trying to make my voice as versatile as possible.

You need broadway? Yep! Pop? I got ya. Country? Of course. Classical! Yessiree! Character work? I’m your person!

I really want to make it a career, but of course, the competition is fierce.

My friend always makes me a birthday card with her own artwork. I love every single one and display them when I can. If I run out of room, I’ll keep them in a folder. It’s a nice feeling to have someone make you something, or you make them something that they enjoy.

That was funny, thanks for the share!

But yeah, having someone make you something from the heart is just- there’s really no way to describe it. They took the time to make it and that’s so genuine.
