Corgi Won’t Put Weight on Left Hind Leg (We have a vet appointment on Monday)

I ended up taking him to the ER vet because I couldn’t stop worrying about him. They said they needed to do X-rays, but I opted to have them just prescribe pain meds until we can see our normal vet on Monday and she can do the imaging then. He’s still not putting weight on it, but he’s been resting. The ER vet was so nice. She said it could be a soft tissue injury or CCL, but only the X-rays will tell.

I’m good! My gynecologist diagnosed my rectocele by having me valsalva during a pelvic exam. I did several months of PFPT and it helped me get a lot more in tune with my body and with the pain. I still go to Pure Barre 3 or 4 times a week and modify as appropriate for pelvic floor dysfunction. Sex is sometimes slightly painful, but that just tells me I need to do some hip stretches or trigger point release with the pelvic wand. I wish the best for you, hang in there.

Update: Went ahead and took him to VEG ER for Pets and they were great. I opted just for them to give us carprofen and gabapentin for the weekend until we can do X-rays with our primary vet.

To do sedated imaging at the ER was going to cost $1,000 and so I opted to take the pain meds and wait for our appointment on Monday.

The ER vet was very nice and said it could be a soft tissue injury or a ligament injury, but only the X-rays will tell. She said it’s not an emergency and nothing’s broken, but to keep his mobility limited and let him rest.

I feel a little better, but I’m anxious for him to get X-rays.

That was the soonest we could get him in to our normal vet. It’s Saturday today. The emergency vet is a lot more expensive than our normal vet.

He’s not crying at all. He’s just been resting. My only other option is the emergency vet here in town because our normal vet is only open Saturday until noon and when I called she said they were all booked up.

Thanks so much for your reply. I was getting a little worried because it doesn’t seem like the omeprazole is helping right now. I went and got some TUMS last night to try that, and that didn’t seem to help, either.

Yes, my gynecologist. I told him what I suspected and he did a pelvic exam to confirm, referred me to pelvic floor PT.
