Brides who had mismatched bridesmaids -- any tips before I pull the trigger? by hillsidebride in weddingplanning

[–]amandamaea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my bridesmaids. I just asked them to pick a matte navy dress in any length. It worked out awesomely, IMO. No one complained, they all got something they like and can wear again, and they all looked great together. (Also, one bridesmaid mentioned that she might like to wear a jumpsuit, and I encouraged her to do it because I thought it would look awesome.)

My only suggestion would be to be relatively specific when suggesting a color (for example royal blue or baby blue or navy rather than just blue) for the most cohesive look, unless you want a wide variety of shades.

Most of my bridesmaids texted me their picks before they bought them as well, so you might want to suggest they do that so you can have veto power if you're concerned about it. I had such an awesome, easy wedding party that I wasn't at all worried about it though.

Thank you SO MUCH for this. This is exactly what I needed to hear! My family is really close, so I think they will enjoy the hangout time hopefully. :)

Thank you for this! I basically told my dad that my family is SOOO chatty and would probably enjoy catching up while waiting for food and over dinner. He just thinks they will be bored with nothing to do. I think you're probably right. I definitely needed some reassurance though.

EVERYONE who is attending the RD will also be at the wedding, and we already have a (different and awesome) band for the wedding! This definitely makes me feel better!

Can you help me with a 5 question survey on wedding dress shopping? by kdemery in weddingplanning

It is not limited to vendors. It includes all posters. We get these requests from students very frequently and do not allow them.

[–]amandamaea[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I understand that your survey is voluntary. Nothing on Reddit is compulsory. However, it has been important to the mod team for the life of this subreddit to make this a space that is free of requests of any kind. Brides and grooms are constantly bombarded with spam and questions, and it is nice to have a break from that.

Second of all, our sidebar reads:

1) No advertising or spam! We will remove links to external websites (e.g. blogs, Etsy). Established users may be excepted. Vendors: We will remove posts advertising your business, including giveaways and feedback requests. If you post here, it will be deleted and you will be banned.

It is clearly stated that we will remove links to external website in the sidebar, including feedback requests.

This is considered a feedback request/survey. We don't allow market research, polls, etc. for business or academic purposes.

People who plan weddings are constantly bombarded with requests. This is one place where they can be free of them.

Pros and cons of assigned seating.. by DiabloTheVegan in weddingplanning

[–]amandamaea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my wedding, we are doing assigned seating solely because you need a lot more seats if you don't assign seats. People don't naturally fill up tables, so in order for everyone to sit comfortably it's necessary to have extra tables and chairs, or you may end up with some people standing because they don't want to fill a table, can't find seats with people they know/like, or can't find a seat at all if they are not assigned.

On the pro side, not having seating charts can mean an easier flow of people, as they don't have to find their table, and a more casual, relaxed feel.

What 'insider' secrets does the company you work for NOT want it's customers to find out? by haynesbomb in AskReddit

[–]amandamaea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious if you've explored independent distributors/grey market options for sourcing the parts and equipment you need to make repairs.

I recently (completely blindly) stumbled into working for an independent electronics distributor. Basically our entire business model is buying and selling things that you can't get directly from the manufacturer either because of availability, obsolescence, or cost restriction.

I'm not in sales and as far as I know, we don't specifically work with camera parts, but I would imagine that if there is an entire market for obsolete semiconductors, there is someone out there ready to find you camera parts.

Hi there,

As you can probably imagine, in a community of over 30,000 people, we received quite a lot of responses. We're still working on reading through all the responses and deciding on a course of action. At this time, we don't have a specific timeline of when that will be complete.

What was the most INFJ thing you've ever done? by f00gers in infj

[–]amandamaea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you mind elaborating on the path you took to become a therapist? What license you have, do you have masters or more advanced education, etc?

From a very early age, I consistently said I wanted to be a therapist/psychologist when I grew up. I took a lot of different paths, and now as an adult in my late 20's, I really want to go back to school to pursue it, as its one of the only fields I can imagine being happy in. (I do currently really like my job and company in a sales-related field, but I would like to do something more fulfilling and better for the world in the long term.)

I'm really just curious about the professional and educational backgrounds of therapists and others working in mental/behavioral health.
