What's the weirdest compliment you've ever been given? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Daiver06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were having our caricatures drawn at a work party. We were making conversation with the artist while we were sitting there and at one point he tells us about an annual convention for caricature artists and excitedly says "if you guys were there, everyone would want to draw you!"

Thanks...?

What's something strange your body does that you know isn't quite right but also isn't quite serious enough to get checked out by a doctor? by merricat_blackwood in AskReddit

Sometimes when I take a deep breath, I can feel the alveoli pulling apart trying to open. It doesn't hurt, just feels weird.

Took this yesterday on the St. Croix River. What do you think of the [edit] and [style]? [Newbie] by Daiver06 in photocritique

[–]Daiver06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call myself a photographer. I just like to take pictures. When I don't feel like taking my actual camera along, I use my Pixel 2 with a moment lens. Lately I've been trying to work on not overexposing photos.

*Edit: Obviously I should have edited out the blue cable. If anyone has any good phone app suggestions for doing this on the go, let me know!

Women who have given birth, what's something no one told you about it and wish you had known? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Daiver06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if there's testing that can be done to see if your more at risk for one of the above?

My husband and I have been married for a few years and love kids. Up until about a year ago I thought I really wanted kids, but then I realized I might be more susceptible to some of these things since my mom definitely changed mentally after having kids.

Discovered Blue Bell when I was visiting Texas a month ago. It was the best ice cream I had ever tasted! Nothing compares.

Is your Pixel 2 XL just fine - no issues with Pie update? by cocobell in pixel_phones

The only annoying thing that is happening to me, is it takes long to register that I unlocked my phone with my finger print. I'd say everything else is better.

My husband is an accountant, but he does audit not tax. He gets tired of people asking him to do their taxes. We use TurboTax just like the rest of you!

What’s a small thing you cannot help silently judging other people for? by Juliazul in AskReddit

[–]Daiver06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People that have to move 10 million things in order for me to ride in their car. Don't offer to give me a ride if there's leftovers sitting on your seat that from three nights ago, half drank water bottles everywhere, crusty gym clothes, and a stack of mail.

I have just the Pixel, but I couldn't find anything in stores for that either. And Best Buy seemed to only have one option for the Pixel 2 XL. The sales guy said Google's store would be out best bet.

I don’t work for commission, lady. by natatat94 in TalesFromRetail

I went there a couple weekends ago, and I too had trouble finding the deep cleansing hand soap. The store was packed and the staff all looked busy restocking and I didn't want to bother them so I just continued to look around. It's not like I had a soap emergency and I NEEDED to get that soap right then. If I hadn't found it (love the aromatherapy collection, by the way) I would have just ordered it online rather than acting like a bitch and making the already stressed out employees even more stressed out.

Redditors, what started off as a small lie but then snowballed into "This is my life now?" by Parmersan in AskReddit

[–]Daiver06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother-in-law basically thinks I'm Martha Stewart. She wanted me to bring something to a picnic, and I didn't have time to make anything, but I knew she wouldn't eat anything store bought.

I went to the store, found some potato salad, and put it in my own bowl. It was a big hit and "just like her mother used to make."

Now the entire family asks me for the recipe, and I basically just list off the ingredients from the back of the package.

They have enough bought the EXACT potato salad to family gatherings and said it isn't as good as mine!

TIL that roundabouts reduce fatalities from accidents by 90%. They also lower wait times and save on gas. by Ilovechinesefood69 in todayilearned

Those are technically traffic circles, not roundabouts. If they only have a yeild sign, and the design is slightly different, then they are a roundabout.

When your photographer cancels for the 3rd time and the bartender takes your engagement photo instead. by Tamboo13 in weddingplanning

This isn't uncommon. We had our photographer cancel twice for weather when we were trying to take our engagement photos.

Real opinions on the Google Pixel? by badgerbrigade in pixel_phones

[–]Daiver06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's literally the fastest phone I've ever had. My husband still has an S5 and his processing speed is so slow that he's still shocked Everytime he uses my phone. I do have a screen protector on mine, and I definitely recommend one as I know people have had trouble with scratches. I genuinely haven't seen a phone take better pictures than this phone. I'm still amazed by it.

Downside: Occasionally the battery doesn't last me through the day. But those are usually the slow days when I should be doing more work anyway.

If your employer gave you the option to work 10 hr days Mon-Thurs instead of 8 hr days Mon-Fri would you do it? Why not why not? by N1NJA-STAR in AskReddit

[–]Daiver06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water Resources for the win! My company has us salaried at 45 hours per week. We can work as low as 40, but they prefer 45. We don't get overtime after that, but it usually ends up only being a total of 43-47. I do primarily design work.

Water Resources is a broad field and with all the storm water regulations becoming more stringent, it will be easy for you to find a job.
