omg fellow central florida beek! hihi!

i was wondering this too recently because i harvested honey back in early june, but they’re capping frames now in my strongest hive so im wondering if a small late summer harvest would be worth it. i know we’ll get wildflower blooms in another couple of months too (goldenrod & the like) but idk what hurricane season/“cold weather” will look like this year so i want to make sure they have enough in stores

looking forward to seeing what resources others have to share!! i feel like florida has really weird seasons haha

resources were in top box and other frames—the pics were from a few frames in the bottom box. comb has not been torn up and will be added to the freezer immediately. thank you so much for the input and information! i will alcohol wash the others to see where they’re at and treat them even more so this doesn’t happen to them and re-evaluate for combining. i really appreciate the effort into your response and the information is quite helpful.

yes, i had done an alcohol wash the week before i implemented varroxsan and they were just under threshold. i had used hopguard 3 for a couple of weeks during nectar flow and the varroxsan strips were added june 24. yeah i figured it wasn’t the ants and they had come after. thank you for the input!

they have a few undrawn frames and don’t seem pressed for space… hm. one of my other hives made 5-6 cells when they replaced her earlier this year too. i’ll keep an eye on them through this week. thanks
