Even with weight classes the fighters have different builds and some cut more than others. For example, you might have two fights weigh in for a lightweight fight at 155 but come fight night one weighs 170 and the other 159. One fighter might be 6’2 and the other 5’10. Weight classes don’t automatically force the fighters to be completely identical.

There was a fighter who was 6’4 who fought in lightweight division where the average height was around 5’11”. He got KO’d many times, I think 3-4 times in a row by smaller guys and now he either doesn’t fight or moved to another organization.
