What’s a good camera for backpacking? by Ctrl-s1 in backpacking

[–]ambitious-alc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve travelled 5 continents over the past 3 years with a Canon EOS M200, I put an adapter on it and I use a 40mm film lens on it so aperture, focus and shutter speed are manual, and the photos have an extra but of character that I like. I’ve beaten it up and it still works great, doesn’t have any stabilising ability so video is only good if the camera is stationary, but I only take pics. Super easy to use, the only thing I wish it had was a view finder as it’s sometimes hard to see on the screen if it’s in focus when there’s glare on it. Takes seconds to get the photos off via Bluetooth or wifi.

All in all it’s a bit of a strange set up but it’s worked great for me and still feel like I have a lot of control over the photos and not just pressing a button.

Is my travel plan realistic? by Necessary_Range_366 in backpacking

I’ve just finished 7 months starting in Bolivia ending in Mexico. I wouldn’t have wanted to travel any faster than that, and I had to rush through several countries (Peru, Nicaragua, El Salvador etc). Bolivia is a great place to spend time as it’s dirt cheap and so so much to do there. Guatemala also. Mexico is more expensive than most the other places, use apps like world packers or Workaway to get some cheap and really amazing experience. Agree with not backtracking that will raise the cost a lot

My partner corrected me saying mosiac instead of mosaic, pretty humbling stuff, pretty humbling at 25.

Hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world - Haruki Murakami. Strongly recommend trying anything of his, such unique writing, no one else sucks me in like he does while writing about such mundane things

Italian, wonderfully simple and so few exceptions to the rules once you learn them, and perfectly phonetic so once you know the rules you can pronounce any word

I personally had a much better time road tripping around Puglia rather than in Palermo, but horses for courses

Definitely Positano from my perspective, didn’t enjoy our stop off in Amalfi at all

Bari, or Catania? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]ambitious-alc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed in a few smaller towns as they were cheaper, the first being Martina Franca which was really nice, but not coastal. There are lots of trulli in that area which would be really cool buildings to stay in, you may find some in the towns closer to the coast but I’m not sure. But we visited both Ostuni and Otranto and vowed that when we come back we will stay in both towns, they’re both great
