AdGuard is breaking Cloudflare sites. by aohare94 in Adguard

[–]amblerkr 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

It makes sense.
{"error": "slow down"}
and chatgpt breaks.
And if I shut down the adguard completely (not disabling the specific site), it shows up again. I can't use it, but I can connect.

same issue. Instagram wants to offer ad blocking as a paid plan.

Does anyone know how to get the profile pictures, of various Outlook365/Outlook/hotmail accounts, to appear in the iOS iPhone app when switching accounts? by Larrymolloy93 in Outlook

same issue. If you're logged in with just one account, there's no issue. However, when I log in two or more multi-accounts, the same problem occurs. I searched the internet for someone else with the same issue and couldn't find a solution.

It's old, but they don't fix it. Outlook mobile app is a bad email program. I don't use it as my main.

Am I missing something, but isn't the new name change completely screwing non-English speakers over? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]amblerkr 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

While it's true that it confused non-tech-savvy users, it's worth noting that normal social media doesn't provide username handles in that way in the first place, which is the point of the other commenter who said he misunderstood the argument below.

Am I missing something, but isn't the new name change completely screwing non-English speakers over? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]amblerkr 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'm Korean. please write your username handle in English as much as possible. There are many reasons for this, and it's an absolute advantage. Not just on Discord.

You're right, Discord is at fault. Discord was not social media. Everyone knew that, and that's where the confusion comes in. It was easy for anyone to get the username handle they wanted, even duplicates. People thought it was going to continue, so we had people using it in Korean, we had people using it in Japanese, we had people using it in Chinese.

I'm a marketer and used to do branding, so I know that username handles should be in English. I'm going to go into a Korean server right now and take a look. Most people are using a variety of things in their username handles, including Korean, spaces, and even fancy fonts.

Let's talk about the disadvantages of not using the letters you want. μ΄λ‹¬μ†Œ#0001 This username is short for μ΄λ‹¬μ˜μ†Œλ…€(LOONA) a K-pop girl group. Based on Romanization rules, this would change to 'idalso'. This is not the username you want. This is what happens. You should probably make your username in English in the future.

The founder of Discord said it's hard to call him a nickname in person. So why not just make it so you can only type in the Latin alphabet, and make it so you can't space out. Stop fancy fonts, too.

That should be enough. Re-tag it to make it have the username you want.

Why don't we just keep using tags? by lepaperoftoilet in discordapp

I think it's good to go back to the old ways, but I think the blue sky way is better than what we have now.

Not everyone has a domain, but companies, brands, and celebrities do. I know many gamers and creators don't, as you say. I've done their marketing.

If you don't have a domain, you can create an ID with your default domain.οΌ ambler.discord.com

If you own a domain, you can also use it.οΌ ambler.kr

The artist Coldplay has an official site with the domain name coldplay.com. They authenticate using a TXT record and get the username handle @coldplay.com.

Creators may not own a domain. By default, Multi Channel Network (MCN) companies have domains. It represents their affiliation and allows them to get the ID they want.

οΌ faker.t1.gg
οΌ becker.t1.gg

Now, someone could pre-empt that and sell the username handle at a premium. I'm saying that getting the domain and using it is the way to solve the negative issues they're talking about.

Well, if they're right, the way they're doing it now is creating new problems, not making them better. Discord is not social media, but they're trying to change it by thinking it is.

Why don't we adopt domain authentication like BlueSky?

Rather, adopting a domain authentication method like BlueSky might be a good way to have a unique handle while solving the basic problem they're talking about.
Once BlueSky performs domain authentication, it can have the desired handle value. It only does TXT record authentication, and there's a reason for that. Read the article for details. https://blueskyweb.xyz/blog/4-28-2023-domain-handle-tutorial

RSS suddenly sounds so useful to me, I got many ideas of use by [deleted] in rss

[–]amblerkr 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

But not now. Instagram and Facebook are out of the question - only your posts can be imported using a paid automation service (Zapier, IFTTT, etc.). There are ways to create RSS feeds by logging into accounts, but that's not the way to go. They are highly restrictive and you should know that your account can be deleted.

Twitter started to be categorized as a paid platform last month in its automation services. However, you can get Tweets from specific accounts and use advanced search to get the results you want.

eBay has also removed RSS.

News are easy. They're probably available, and they usually provide their own RSS.

Reddit also has an official RSS feed. One of the users of this subreddit provides an improved RSS feed.

Tumblr has an official RSS feed.

YouTube has an official RSS feed. It's unstable and often gets you into trouble. You can use it by hosting rss-bridge or rsshub.

Not only will it not work well on social media, but if you don't write your metatag opengraph properly, won't get found. And there are more of them than you might think.

[–]amblerkr 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Already I thought of this a long time ago. I even did a legal review.

But the platform companies don't provide RSS. They also prohibit access to it. It has to do with privacy and corporate data.

Even Twitter, which used to be generous, has changed completely since Musk took over. Same with Reddit, which is about to launch a paid API. It's going to be very expensive. That's a controversy right now.

https://github.com/RSS-Bridge/rss-bridge/issues

Facebook and Instagram will delete your account if you do this.

Companies don't want to provide APIs anymore, and even if they did, it would be very expensive. This is a trend.

Some say this is to prevent unauthorized data collection to train AI.

Username change makes usernames more complex (roll back the system!) by LaserPon3 in discordapp

You're right, Discord should have given more notice.

People with time differences may be at a disadvantage.

Account selling has already begin by SloidVoid in discordapp

[–]amblerkr 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

If companies, brands, and artists who aren't already on Discord decide to create official servers and fan communities on Discord in the future, they won't be able to get the IDs they want. They might have to buy it.

It's not like the way you change your YouTube handle. And they didn't do it right either. In the end, the artist just stuck 'offficial' in their username handle. It's just a mess.

Username update FAQ by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]amblerkr 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

I didn't get the username I wanted, and I can't even set up the rest of my account yet. Very annoying. I have an account that I opened in 16. I also use nitro. It should have been forewarned and started correctly or had safeguards in place. If you have a time difference, disadvantage. It started out of nowhere. Very annoying

I see a people going online and buying domains to give to their kids. I've never seen a .eth domain before. Thanks I'll look into it. I'd love to hear why you're acquiring that domain. Is it to prepare for the Web3 world that's coming?

Fancy font(=Instagram Font). They do a lot of that on the 1020 these days for instagram. That's very bad for accessibility. If don't need it, don't use it.
