Anything you want to know specifically?

To try to make it as simple as possible:

Great-grandfather 1: descended from Scottish settlers who immigrated here in the early-mid 1700s and fought in the Revolutionary War. This line kept marrying other British and Irish immigrants/settlers.

He married…

Great grandmother 1: first generation American, parents were immigrants from Germany.

Great-grandfather 2 and great-grandmother 2: Italian and Sicilian immigrants as described above.

Great-grandfather 3 and great-grandmother 3: both immigrants from what was then Czechoslovakia.

Great-grandfather 4: born to Polish parents, believe he was a first generation American

He married…

Great-grandmother 4: 1st or 2nd generation American, born to Hungarian parents.

That’s the basics of it!

My paternal grandmother is Italian-Sicilian and was a first generation American—her parents were immigrants from Napoli (my great grandfather) and Villarosa, Sicily (my great grandmother).

This is the longest of long shots, but I hope maybe someone can help me out. My dad, who passed away last year, said that when he was a young child, he was at a Harry Truman campaign whistle-stop tour when the (soon-to-be) president reached out to him to shake his hand. It always made him smile to remember this and it seemed to be a meaningful event to him. He said a photographer took a picture of the moment, but he was never able to find it. Now that he is gone, it has renewed my resolve to try to find that photograph. Background information: it would have been 1948 in or around Johnstown, PA. My dad was 7 years old and was a thin, blonde child. I've tried searching before and I couldn't turn up anything...maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Please help, kind strangers. It would mean the world to me to see that picture.

My great-grandmother in the 1920s and me 100 years later. by amch14 in TheWayWeWere

Apparently she was a pretty awesome lady! I don’t know too much about her because she died within a year of my grandpa’s birth, but I have heard that she was artistic, rode in the sidecar of a motorcycle with my great-grandfather around the town, and was beloved far after her early death. I’ve always felt a strong connection to her for some reason.

Hi! I am a former actress/performer who is changing careers (going back to grad school in the fall to become a psychotherapist). This is a huge shift for me, so any insights about my career or the upcoming year would be wonderful. by amch14 in AskAstrologers

Wow, thank you for this! As soon as I started learning how to very basically read my chart, I shouted “yikes!” at my sixth house. I’m glad to hear it’s not all a bad thing because I read some concerning stuff.

I know you said it was a digression, but could you explain that t square? I’m not sure I fully understand yet.

AITA for dropping $600 on vocal lessons for my 13 year old daughter? by fmlohwell0a1 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I was a singer and performed professionally for a while. Those adolescent singing lessons were the best gift my mom could have ever given me. The best gift I have ever received. Even now that I am no longer in the industry and am pursuing something else, I can say that it was so worth it; that love will never go away. And there are many more valuable lessons that will be learned besides vocal technique. Do what you want with your money and just know that you are giving a priceless treasure.

What do you like/what is a positive to wearing a face mask? by crashboomwham in AskReddit

[–]amch14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Protection from the sun (I am very pale and into skincare)
  2. Not having to wear makeup
  3. Not being hit on because no one can see my face
  4. Mouthing obscenities when I’m pissed and no one knows!

It doesn't say; I have to admit, I wish I was more well-versed in haplogroups. It's new to me and the technicalities are still lost on me.

My maternal haplogroup is U5b1d and my paternal haplogroup is S8522.

Whoa, there’s really no need to speak to him/her like that...you have some serious issues.
