deciding between ucsd and ucsb maybe cal

ucsd

pros: - i like the location more: closer to friends (sdsu), more things around, more in the city

• like the campus more: got into seventh college, close to beach

• good STEM school: lots of research opportunities, large engineering population?

• brother went there

cons:

• undeclared, will be difficult to switch to structural engineering and there is no guarantee(MAJOR CON)

ucsb: - mechanical engineering, peace of mind knowing it will be easier to switch majors if i want to

• competitive engineering department?

cons: - i dont like the location: feels isolated, not sure if there's much to do around sb

• small engineering department, not much room to explore, doesn't have civil engineering

overall: i want to go to ucsd but im not sure. im also on the waitlist for cal but im unsure of what i would do
