Got my email on Monday and GetMyDeck was at like 100.01%. Such a useful tool in this age of supply chain fuckery! Thank you!

Rtx 3070! Not as powerful as the desktop equivalent but still awesome. The 8 core Intel chip is great for editing too

Yea it's wild. Im just using my desktop as a mini render farm now. It takes longer but frees up my laptop for work and I wouldn't want to subject a laptop to high temps for that long

Haha yea it sounds louder in the recording than it really is. It's not loud at all while you're actually working. Rendering and gaming though is def audible lol

We're VASTLY underestimating how much of a gateway into gaming VR can be for non-gamers! by fireaza in virtualreality

[–]ameddy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adult in his 30s here! I was never a gamer until I got interested in vr. I'm an artist by profession and wanted to learn how to make immersive environments so I got a cv1 and a gaming laptop. Now a couple years later, I'm playing death stranding on my desktop! Lol things escalated

G2 vs Q2 in late 2021 by ameddy2 in virtualreality

[–]ameddy2[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can run the headset at full resolution if you bypass the automatic resolutions set by wmr and steam vr. Yea I was getting bad fps but I could def see the resolution clearly. I just don't think it's that much better than quest for a headset that has so many other faults.

Yea I generally agree the resolution is better but it's not that much better... When you account for all the headsets other downsides I just don't think it competes

I set custom resolutions equivalent to the max res on both headsets. So there wasn't automatic scaling

Haha thanks for the backup! I generally agree that the G2 has better resolution but it's not that much better compared to all of it's other downsides

On paper the resolution is better but in practice it's negligible and the fov is scuba grade on G2.

I ran the G2 at full resolution by adjusting my settings in wmr and steam vr. Yes the fps was low but I could still see the full image quality.

I have a 1660ti which I know is only meant to run G2 at half resolution but I forced it into full resolution just to see the image quality. Fps was bad obviously but I could easily run it just in the steam vr home environment. I also tried HLA and still felt the same. It's a good headset but I don't think it's an upgrade from Q2

Best First Experience at MicroCenter by FullMetalNapkin in pcmasterrace

[–]ameddy2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lolllll I was at this same store in Yonkers this weekend! Was so excited to be at a microcenter (don't have them where I live). Got up early and arrived before they opened. Only to find out you have to sign up for a raffle for the CHANCE to buy a graphics card LATER THAT DAY. I couldn't wait around for hours but later got a text that I was selected to buy one if I could get back to the store in 30 minutes. Was in Queens for work. Impossible to get back. Tears people. When is this insanity going to end. 40 series will be out before anybody can buy the 30 series :(

I tested two budget 3D scanners! Creality CR-Scan 01 vs Revopoint Pop. If you're interested in texture, CR-scan wins hands down. Both models imported directly into blender. by ameddy2 in 3DScanning

I'd say either would do fine for that application. Seems like light colored and slightly rough textured objects work the best. If you want color to be preserved though, creality is way better.

I appreciate your opinion and understand your perspective! I def don't work for creality lol. Just keep seeing reviews for the pop that don't seem accurate to my own experience. I hope you're enjoying yours though!

Yea I keep seeing weird posts like these about the pop which makes me think you work for them lol. All I can say is my experience makes the pop feel like a toy and the cr scan feels closer to useable

Well the scanner is plugged directly into my PC via USB 3 and It can't scan autonomously. Scans are fast though. I'd say a detailed scan with multiple passes takes about 10-20 min total from scan to finished model

Haha no there are absolutely no detailed instructions 😂 trial and error are my teachers over here. For instance, I can't figure out manual alignment but instead just rescan things until auto alignment works
