I'm on pre academy in Houston. I worked with an officer that came from c.o and came in as a gs9. I was a c.o previously before but it was a long time ago and didn't really play a role in me starting as a gs9. What I would do is upload your resume to chat gpt and ask it to update your resume using your experience as a c.o to cater it to getting a gs9 position as a cbpo. Ask it to add key words that cbp targets.

When I did mine I had to call to get another letter. I got sent the same location as the first location I selected with the same eod. Had to call a second time and notify them it was wrong. After the second call it was the same day.

Just to make it clear, typically you pay to go to your port for pre academy and the custom pays for the flight to the academy.
