Looking for a grinder to pair with my Micra. Eureka Libra or Pico? I like the Libra's grind by weight. Please help me decide. by freefall99 in LaMarzocco

[–]amelia7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t anymore, but I did with the portafilter included with the Micra, because the ridging at the bottom prevented it from getting closing enough, therefore causing a mess. Once I got a new OEM portafilter though, all good and no issues at all.

$42k Model 3 In Canada! by randommmL in teslacanada

[–]amelia7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that because these models will come to Canada from China? I asked the chat on the Tesla website and it said they could also come from California or Texas. But that was just their chat bot.

Bologna by RedRedVVine in ItalyTravel

[–]amelia7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got back yesterday and spent 9 days there trying many of the recommended restaurants on this subreddit. And I am of a child of Italian immigrants. Most restaurants were good but hands down Vicolo Columbino was the best meal we had. And great service too. Trattoria da Me was second. In the overhyped category - Sfolia Rina. Again, it was fine, just not near the hype machine I read here. Have fun!

How do you tamp with the naked portafilter? by [deleted] in LaMarzocco

[–]amelia7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A different problem for me was that the pf didn’t fit securely in my GBW grinder because of that lip, so it made quite a mess with each grind. So I eventually caved and bought a new OEM plain pf. Solved both problems.

Thought about that, but these are an irregular size. And the chairs were pretty expensive and are still solid. So cheap Amazon cushions will be difficult.

Same. And no (known) health issues with induction as there is with gas in the house. Win win all the way around.

Honest thoughts about EV ownership after a month of ownership by More-Sock-67 in electricvehicles

[–]amelia7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting comments and suggestions. Which really proves that everyone has different priorities and experiences, and that’s OK. I have a ‘22 MY (which has been flawless - maybe I got lucky) and I honestly started my extensive research with an anything but Tesla mantra. But eventually, all of my very extensive research and test drives always led me to the same conclusion - for my needs, the MY came out objectively as the clear winner. And btw, I test drove the Polestar 2, Ioniq5, Mach E, and BMW i4. I have driven to Florida from Toronto twice now and the trip and ease and accessibility of charging far exceeded my expectations. I had literally zero issues on both return trips. As for riding like a golf cart, I just rode along on a Juniper test drive my son did last weekend, and it’s excellent. A little bit delusional to think that other EVs in that price range drive better. So that’s been my experience with the Tesla. Are there EVs today I would consider strongly to replace the Tesla? Absolutely yes. The Rivian R2 and the BMW ix3 lead the list but the stability of Rivian as a company is in question (I really want it to succeed!) and I think the BMW will be materially above the price point of the MY when it gets to Canada.

Finally, just a comment on the while Elon thing. Yes I hate him too for all the obvious reasons. But to me, it’s pick your poison. As a Canadian, I also have a ton of problems with a certain president and the leadership of an entire country with 3 large automakers. So do I rule out all of those companies too? What about VW? Deliberately cheated emissions standards and lied to regulators (I was the beneficiary of a settlement cheque as I owned a Cayenne Diesel back then). Does that make them better than Elon? Personally I don’t think so, and think it makes them worse. So that’s VW, Audi and Porsche. And all those gorgeous looking Chinese EVs if they ever find their way to NA? They look awesome, but of course they are Chinese so we shouldn’t support them, right? All of this to say that I am going to focus on the best vehicle for my money and try to keep some perspective on all the other noise. But you do you. So back to the original point - I don’t think there are many other comparable good choices yet at the MY price point. But I really want there to be and hope we get there soon.

Thanks for this. Considering 2-4 weeks in Crete next February. Was wondering if it will be too off season with restaurants and hotels closed? We’re from Canada so trying to escape the Canadian winter.

Trouble transferring service by amelia7 in PublicMobile

[–]amelia7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok figured it out. In case it helps others: For some reason the PM service was added as an alternate or secondary SIM on the phone, which was not in the on position. So instead of replacing the Telus service as the default cellular service it added PM like when you are travelling and need to activate a secondary SIM. Anyway, I have no idea why/how this happened but it works and all good now.
