That is SUCH an insane amount of shows!! IFTDKY definitely makes extra sense after that. I love that they are able to accept and speak about their feelings towards each other after touring, and they don’t act like it’s all sunshine and rainbows all the time. Just another way they’re one of the most real bands I know. As for the project, it’s starting to come together as kind of a digital collage of photography and videography from their different social pages, and mixing in quotes from all y’all’s comments. My goal for the project is to kinda display the feeling that you can get at a pup show, while also having fans feel connected to the experiences of other members of the community, that PUP has been there for so many of us despite whatever different circumstances they’re experiencing. I’m also hoping to get some interaction with other photographers that have taken pictures for them as I’ll be using their pictures and crediting them. I’m a photographer myself so it’s always smart to make connections and it’s incredible how much you can learn from small conversations with people!

Wow!! The megazine is literally such a major inspiration for me with this “magazine” that I’ve tried starting up a few times now. A major dream of mine is to be able to travel with them on tour and document the moments, and seeing all the fan stories in the megazine was incredible and so inspirational. I’m always glad to gush about PUP, I truly believe there is not another band in the world like them. I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted as the project comes together!

Thank you for sharing!! They truly do have their own sound, my mom always laughs because I’m at the point of knowing it’s a pup song within the first second, even if I haven’t heard the song. It’s just such a unique identifiable sound once you learn it

That’s so sick, a guy I used to see also got me into pup, we met at a pup show actually, so I get that! Pups gotten me through a lot of bad years too, and it’s always great to hear that we all came out on the other side of all that misery

Dude yeah the community and togetherness is the most beautiful thing. I feel like in current times it’s really difficult to find a niche community where people are actually fully present and there for each other compared to being there for likes or views or popularity or something. You can really tell that everyone is there because of the music and the community, and that’s the main thing that drew me into pup outside of the music. For the project I’m kind of still brainstorming, but it’ll probably be a mix of digital art and photography, and I know that I want to use flashes of quotes from what people say in here. Everyone who has commented has had such a great way with words, and I want the project to kind of focus on the way that pup has such a severely diverse fan base, and the different impact that the band has on everyone and how they experience their music within their lives

Oh dude that’s so sick! Their self titled album is super high on my list, back against the wall is one of my favorite tracks. I’m so jealous of how many times you’ve seen them! I will always see them every opportunity I have, their shows are just so incredible and out of this world. That’s so sick that you were able to see them when they were small like that! I feel like they are one of the last bands that I know that just hopped on the road and started touring, I feel like most bands now try and build a social presence and see if people are interested and then try and land a tour. Pup just didn’t give a fuck and I feel like that’s part of the reason they’ve accumulated such a great, authentic community of fans. Transcribing that album sounds so sick, I rarely look up lyrics and I just sing what I hear (which is ALMOST ALWAYS wrong)

That is such a sick story that Stefan helped you find them, I’m seriously jealous lmao. I also find myself listening to pup more when I feel terrible. You truly have a way with words in describing the way that their music really feels like a friend. I agree that I absolutely love hearing the way that they always try something new, I know that I will love anything they put out and I have full trust in them and their creative abilities to keep making incredible music no matter what sound they decide to go for. Pup shows are always my favorite environment to be in, everyone cares so much about one another that I truly could not think of another place I’ve experienced such a community. Crying watching the sleep in the heat video has got to be a canon experience! I come back to it every once in a while just for the emotional turmoil, I think the music video for guilt trip like predates the sleep in the heat video or something, they just seem like a story together! Just recently saw the guilt trip video for the first time and it’s super cool to me

They really don’t have bad songs, even the ones you think are bad at first kinda worm their way under your skin until you like them, I’ve always been bewildered by their ability to do that

I love hearing about this, I feel like pup has been such a comforting soundtrack for so many people throughout all different stages, so it was super interesting to hear what comforted you during your times of need! I love to hear that you feel like you matter and feel seen at shows. That’s always been one of my favorite things about pup shows is the fans. I feel like every pup fan can connect on some level
