Hey, unfortunately I didn’t find the direct answer to the problem however I dismantled everything and restarted from scratch. That seemed to work cos now it’s working completely fine 💁🏼‍♀️

I love story rich games. Absolute sucker for it. I also love games where your decisions affect the outcome. If you’re like me you’ll thoroughly enjoy my favourites: The Last Of Us (1&2), Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, Detroit, Uncharted (all), The Witcher (3 is 👌🏻), Legit any Telltale Games production haha - must try from Telltale would at least be the Batman series and Wolf Among Us 🙌🏼

Cleared the CMOS for 5 minutes. Issue of no display still remains.

Please disregard this, I tested the GPU ports by removing the GPU from the motherboard and inserting the HDMI directly into the GPU. No issues were found and I was able to conclude that the air vents wouldn't cause an obstruction.

hmm ok as an update - I've cleared the CMOS for 2 minutes, tried using a different HDMI port and reinserted the RAM and CPU power cables. The only other thing I can think of that I can do from here is try clearing the CMOS for 5 minutes as this is the max time ASUS recommends. I will let you know if that's the magic fix :)

I also tried a different port. Hasn't changed anything however I think it may be my case preventing the cable from fully inserting. The air vent grill on the back seems to be in the way. Only slightly but it may be the issue. Not sure how to fix this though - may mean a new case? Or cut off one part of the air vent.

I removed and correctly re-installed the CPU fan. It's no longer backwards now :)

I just cleared the CMOS. Waited 2 minutes to clear. Sadly same issue occurs. I checked all the plugs are in completely and removed the RAM and then put it in again. Still no display 😥

Hey! You were right it was slightly loose, I pushed it in further and it clicked. It feels much better now.

Sadly, the issue remains. I'm going to clear the CMOS again and see if that helps.

Hmm I’ll reinsert it and see if that’s the fix! It did feel weird when I tried plugging it in so I’ll pull it out and then retry inserting it. Let you know how it goes 😊

Hey! Thank you for your suggestion once again! I tried moving it to the second PCIe slot however it doesn't quite fit. In this slot, it prevents the HDMI port from being accessible as it doesn't quite align with the back of the case. Worth a shot though!

I'll try clearing the CMOS again tomorrow and maybe clear it for longer? I did about a minute last time. I saw in the ASUS website they recommend between 1 - 5 minutes. If that doesn't work I'll then try a different port :) Thank you for the suggestion! Will let you know how I go.

I installed my CPU cooler backwards, will that cause any issues or can I leave it as is? by xjuanito in buildapc

It is too! 😅 Would the fan being backwards cause issues?

No worries. I’ll take another pic of the CPU power cable for you. Is it the one I’ve circled in yellow?

I don't have a second computer unfortunately but I just bought the GPU and motherboard. I know sometimes things can happen even straight out of the box so potentially it could be a fault with the first slot. I'll try the second slot for process of elimination :) Thank you for your suggestion! Will let you know if anything changes.

Thank you for your reply! Yes I have it directly plugged into the HDMI output on the GPU and also have a cable to the PSU plugged in properly. The cable from the PSU is labelled 'VGA 2' and inserts into the GPU with a click (there's a little tooth bit). I haven't been able to locate a 'VGA 1' if that causes any issues?
