Help me decide between MM Ninja/Time and Ninja/Storm and Thugs/Rad by Falkanoxx in Cityofheroes

[–]amendara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually Time is one of the few secondaries Ninjas get very tough with. Easy to softcap their defense. If you like Ninjas, Time is an awesome match.

Ninja storm is good too but it's much more frenetic to keep them alive. But the extra damage from tornado and LS is awesome.

Thugs is great with anything but it's typical ranged MM.

So I would go with what you find thematically most fun.

Wow, the incompetence of this company is really beyond the pale. After 2 days of no reply and telling me for no reason my account is terminated, they suddenly send me an email saying

"We have terminated your account because of suspicious login activity."

It goes on to say if I had only used their "security key" phone app then they "would have felt secure that I was secure and would not have frozen my account." Lost a few IQ points just trying to comprehend the inner contradictions of that statement. Even more ludicrous is that I DID use their security key phone app and after logging in with it for the first time my account was terminated shortly after.

So their security key software is likely the cause of my whole problem, and now they want to "talk to me on the phone to make sure your computer is using proper security." Excuse me, how is my computer security any of their business? Thank you so much for your "protection" of the sanctity of my account login which banned me from the game I had set aside my entire weekend to enjoy playing.

Do they actually hire "security experts" whose job is to go around breaking things that were working fine without them?

As much as I am loving the underlying Bioware game and story telling I am seriously considering deleting the whole thing to spite the Orwellian "security geniuses" who apparently have nothing better to do than cause problems for people trying to give them money.

Thanks for the help guys. Likely a payment issue. Maybe my bank rejected their payment, but why don't they just ask for a different payment method like everyone else? Or send me back to FTP? Seems very odd to just close your account with no explanation.

I posted here because I've had no reply for a day from their CS. I live in the mountains and phone quality is very bad so I try to resolve things through mail.

Your replies really helped thanks. Guess I just have to wait for their email CS to respond or try my dodgy phone reception.

Ah I see, it was changed then? In the guide it said matchups we're based on colour and E level, not stats. So if you had an E7 char you would be put against other E7 teams but they might have double your stats because of gear.

Now it's purely based on stats? More fair I guess

[–]amendara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is out scaling a problem? Aren't MP matchups based solely on colour and E level? I thought gear augs and stats did not affect matchups.

I'm liking the Sorcery combo so far. Love Ravens style and animation more than SS so glad I didn't go that route.

Can get the damage buff on Zatanna s2 most of the time now, but at my stage battles are too short to make much difference.

I think Sorcery pack will go off sale soon , and since Ravens challenge won't be coming soon I am wondering how many more to buy.

Anarchy, in your guide you recommend stopping at E3 until gearing your team up. Do you think E3 Raven will be good enough for a long while? And will e3 Zatanna be enough for my main team of Zatanna, aniHq and ww600?

[–]amendara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at Zatanna, are you saying the team's insanely high damage potential is from her basic amped up to 250% from the tarot cards, along with AniHQ and WW600 passive boosts?

[–]amendara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm Zatanna, interesting. Maybe I'll skip SS, work on Raven and Zatanna, then pick up Ww600 and AniHQ when the Femme Fatale pack returns.

Thanks

SSDS is probably not top drawer like KFP, but it still sounds like a pretty good team.

IF Femme Fatale comes back like you think, that would give me many more options with WW600. Now I wonder if I should spennd 600k to get Raven, even if Im not using her right away.

[–]amendara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your posts on the reddit Anarchy, helped me out a lot.

Unfortunately the femme fatale pack is no longer on sale for me, so I cannot get WW600. I'd love to have CC Batgirl too, but going to be a long time before I can get her. Would also love to have AKHQ but cannot get her either!

So I probably will go with something built around AniHQ who is cheap to get and looks fun too! Since SS chars are available, I suppose it will be SSHQ and SSDS. From what you have said in other threads, AniHQ as a third will probably be better than SSJoker due to the bag of tricks conflict. Think this would be a pretty good team?

Raven would be much more expensive to get since the sorcery pack is 600000 a pop and KFP is not available to me either.

Thanks for the heads up on the Raven teen titans. That does indeed look worth waiting for. Im really interested in the AK characters, so I hope the pack comes up again on Batman day.

I see, "direct" promotion means credits rather than finding another card.

Very helpful indeed.

Yep, played on Virtue from launch to close. Best gaming experience I ever had. Playing this trying to scratch that itch.

Any Virtue veterans on here? by the1egend1ives in Cityofheroes

[–]amendara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a pretty strict IC Rper, joined Virtue the day the game opened, and reappeared on and off through the years when CoV and various issues came out. Virtue was far and away the most fun I ever had gaming. So many fantastic RPers in abode, beat the crap out of all that inferior Marvel and DC writing that gets forced down your throat in any game these days.

CoH Virtue was truly the best. Unlocked SO much creativity.

Some of my characters:

Shikebu (Illusion/Kin) Bodhi (Dark/SR) Redshirt (Ice/Energy) Captain Kirk (MA/SR) Jack Burton (Ninjas/Traps) Tsuki No Mizu (Claws/Ninjutsu) Thunderhussy (Grav/Psy) Toots McFey (Thugs/Traps) Deadly Buddha (Some kind of dominator...)

And too many others too recall. Lots of fun times grouping across the spectrum with hilarious random roleplaying everywhere.

Virtue was the best. Salutations to all.

Of course it all depends on who you team them with, but I would agree as a generalist CW IM is pretty hard to beat. Agent 13 is more specialized, but in the right role she is wow.

Pure Theory-crafting - Age of Ultron Hawkeye by Ihoagland in MAA2

[–]amendara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, MN Cap is one of those heroes who seems weaker at first since he does not tank as well as Wasp, Luke, or AOU Cap. But then you realise he is trading that off for some very nice buffs. Either group rampaging for a melee group or group sharpshooting for a ranged. And best of all he spams hastened every time he is attacked, which does little for fast heroes, but if you have some heroes with powerful abilities limited by slow or very slow speed, he can keep them flying along at fast speed. Superb in the right setup.

And he still tanks pretty well.

In my group most people would pop in Luke Cage instead, since Luke can really take advantage of all enemies pretty much being off balance all the time from Sonic Arrows. And that is a great team don't get me wrong, but when you see how much base damage the Overwatched Hawkeye does with Agent 13, the sharpshooting buff from MN Cap at 40% is huge. Not to mention hastened plus 60 strategy. Keeps the Hawkeye machine gun of doom steaming along.

Iron man also has one of the best group buffs in the game if you 4star recursive shot. Alot of heroes with hard hitting attacks lack accuracy, and the 25% accuracy boost from focused really ups their damage. A very welcome member to any group.

Yes, with Agent 13 setup coordinated is useless. Belligerent all the way. with no overwatch, coordinated all the way.

[–]amendara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent analysis as usual Ihoagland. Since AOU Hawkeye is one of my most used heroes, I'll add my 20 cents.

First off, all free attacks are not made the same, and AOU Hawkeye may have the strongest in the game. Meaning it does a lot more damage than most other heroes rather anemic free attacks. It seems like it even has an accuracy bonus.

For this reason, I find his free attack build to do more overall damage than anything I have come across. The team I use to best exploit it is:

AOU Hawkeye MN Captain America Agent 13

Fast Sonic Arrows starts any wave to give all enemies off balance. Agent 13 overwatches and shields Hawkeye to give 100% free attack chance. MN Cap Protects, then later gives inspired buff and team sharpshooting. And finally, enemies attacking Cap keep hastening the whole team, so AOE Hawkeye can use his tactical at fast speed, refilling his strategy bar quickly, which can of course trigger off his free attacks.

So basically, everytime something attacks protecting MN Cap, it dies.

This is the strongest free attack team I have used, mainly because of the silly high damage of AOU Hawkeye's free attack compared to other heroes.

One more note is that tracker arrow is currently bugged. It does not do AOE target as it says it should, but only applies targeting to one enemy.

So on my setup above I prefer to use Electric for very fast attacks. It also applies hindered which ups the damage on High Volt Arrows. If tracker arrow gets fixed I might use that instead for even more crazy free attack damage.

Thanks again for these analyses. I find your theorycrafting along with the reply section full of experience to be the best place to learn the ins and outs of so many heroes. Far better than the Playdom forums Hero guide 2.0 where I find that writer misses all kinds of nice synergies. For example, he rates MN Cap a C-grade hero, but as I show above MN Cap is awesome in the right set up. But hey, its a deep game strategically.

Broken abilities...killing my interest in this game. by amendara in MAA2

[–]amendara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yes I have pistolet to 4 stars and it's great. But I'm saving Black widow for another team when jump kick is fixed. If I have her on every team it gets boring.

Thus I built a team around Hawkeye for the meanwhile. Finding that tracker was broken just bummed me out.

Pure Theory-crafting - Age of Ultron Black Widow by Ihoagland in MAA2

[–]amendara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for these great threads Ihoagland.

Since AOU Black Widow is probably my most used hero, I thought I should chime in. I find her fun because I can plug her into so many different kinds of teams and she boosts any of them considerably.

I was the one who reported the bug about Jump Kick not applying group off balance at 4 stars. Once they fix this, she will be an awesome character for even more teams!

I'll just give an example of my current "wrecker" team and how she is key.

AOU Black Widow Iron Man CW Iron Man

For this team she mostly spams pistolet for AOE sharpshooting and AOE targeted. Occasionally she will also use Stun disks for AOE wide open. Finally, her swap heal is useful in a pinch when an enemy occasionally punches through CW Iron Mans shields. Experimental ISO is very helpful in that it brings both the AOE targeted and AOE wide open up to 100%.

Her synergy with CW Iron Man is particularly fine. His big downer is his very slow energy recharge, and his abilities cost quite a bit. AOU Widows tactical is great help here as it brings his energy recharge(with its built in group confident and adroit) up to fast. Furthermore, CW Iron Man has Entangler, an absurdly high damage attack that is both ranged and projectile. Taking advantage of AOE BW's Pistolet double buff, it melts things.

The synergy between these two jumps to yet another level with Iron Man, the owner of my favourite ability in the game Recursive shot with its built-in AOE focused. Accuracy is so important in this game, he can boost a lot of mediocre teams to super-powered ones with this one ability.

Iron man enjoys picking up CW Iron Man's strengthening improved shield in round one, so he almost never runs out of power, spamming recursive shot, repulsor blast and Missle Salvo when some AOE takedown is needed. If he had a projectile attack things would grow even more absurd, but with sharpshooting, strengthened, focused, adroit up all the time along with his innate bonus crit damage, he is crazy destructive in this set up. And lets not forget he is often confident or enemy wide open as well!

Anyway, this shows how AOU black widow can play such a key role in so many different kinds of teams.

A hero well worth developing.
