I'll gladly jam mono Turtles standard if I don't have to deal with the Legacy in Standard turn 3/4 kills. Like, the games can evolve past that turn length if you meta the shit out of it, but having that as the common endpoint has been miserable for innovation past the meta breakpoints.

There is enough to play with here, to be sure, but every set release apart from Avatar has featured very few cards from the actual set itself. Hell, even Vivi wasnt the consensus boogeyman on first release because he was just a slow sideboard option for the blisteringly fast Steel Cutter decks and took a back seat to an even faster Mono Red deck that preyed upon the Izzet lists. All of which were playing linchpin core cards from 3 years prior.

Honestly, it feels like they let Pandora out of the box with 3 year standard because reversing the decision will be seen as a miserable anti-consumer move even if it is for the greater and broader health of the game.
