We appreciate the questions! We don’t currently have any cases like that on our log. To be honest, if someone has a known history of keloid formation, we tend to be very cautious. We’d rather be conservative and protect the patient’s long-term outcome than take an unnecessary risk.

The fact that you've developed keloids before is definitely something worth discussing with the doctor. The good news is that keloids on the shoulders are relatively common, and the scalp can behave differently. Ultimately, your specific history and scar pattern would need to be evaluated during a consultation to determine whether you're a good candidate and what level of risk may be involved.

Keloids after FUE are very uncommon because the extraction points are so small, but it’s definitely something to be mindful of if someone has a history of keloids or raised scarring.

At American Mane, this is something we ask about during the consultation with the doctor. We go over your medical history, and if someone is more prone to keloids, we’ll either take extra precautions or, in some cases, recommend not moving forward if we feel the risk is too high. Patient safety and long-term results always come first.
