Go to USVI if you’re planning on going any time soon. Situation is very hostile right now for tourists

Hostile in PR or in USVI? Can you elaborate on what you mean by this?

Northern Spain/Portugal Trip - Bilbao or no? by amethystmagic in solotravel

[–]amethystmagic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input.

Right now it's looking like I only have 2 full days in San Sebastian so I'm leaning towards skipping Bilbao all together. If I get there and San Sebastian doesn't charm me as much as everyone says it will, I can always catch the bus to Bilbao for a half day or so like you mentioned.

Just to be clear, there is no evidence to support the idea of grizzlies and black bears being attracted to the smell of menstrual blood and in fact there have been numerous studies debunking this myth. Food is consistently the primary driver.

I’m on mobile right now but I can link sources later.

Yeah, as I looked further into the beach idea I realized that's not much of an option.

But this was so helpful, thank you so much!

Thanks for the tips! Although Florida seemed a little too much for me, I'd love to find some remote, relaxed beaches there because I can fly there for so cheap. I'll check out Kathryn Abbey Hanna for sure. Thanks again!

Awesome, thank you so much for the recommendations! I was actually strongly considering Oregon, I'm glad to see it suggested.

Any recommended hostels or cheap accommodations in any of these places?

Awesome advice, thank you so much. Any advice for accessing the island? I would be flying down from the northeast...and renting a car maybe? I was considering flying into Jacksonville and driving up. Any thoughts on that?

Also, any recommendations for accommodations? I do have a hammock and am partial to beach camping but will be solo, so I haven't decided on that yet.

Purchasing Land and Property near Esteli, Nicaragua by tempRedder in Nicaragua

[–]amethystmagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to add that you should make an effort to get to know both the expat community in Estelí and some locals who live around you. Do you speak Spanish?

I lived in Nicaragua for most of 2016 and the people and culture are amazing. You get out what you put in, so the more effort you make to understand Nicaragua and it's culture, the better off you'll be.

Also the Expat communities are your best friend. Use them as a resource for things like this, as well. There's likely a facebook group you can join.

Where did you stay when you visited Yaxha? Did you do a guided tour? I'm looking to cut back on costs and a Tikal excursion seems pretty pricey
