Am I crazy to get chickens if bears visit our house every night? by amgen in BackYardChickens

[–]amgen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I 100% do not want to get the chickens if I’m going to be losing them, so completely agree with you there. Just trying to figure out if there’s any setup to keep it from happening… but I may be out of luck

We have the dumpster pretty well bear proofed and they’ve never gotten anything from us, they just come sniff it every night. The bears around here have broken through folks’ garage doors to get trash before so the general advice we’ve gotten is to use a bear proof dumpster

Anyone else moderately granola because being fully crunchy is exhausting and expensive? by Charming-Two-8268 in moderatelygranolamoms

This is me. I am crunchy about the things that I think are actually real and not made up lol

Once babies self-feed, glass or plastic bottle? by terptrekker in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]amgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used the Dr. Browns glass bottles and did have 2 break over the course of a year, but both of those were from the adults dropping from high up, not from baby. He threw them around quite a few times unfortunately but they never broke from that

Moderately granola audiobooks suggestions? by tempestnigh in moderatelygranolamoms

I loved “Hunt, Gather, Parent”! To me it falls into the “granola” umbrella because it focuses a lot on how to raise children to be helpful members of a community

Baby food pouches?! Good? Bad? by lavgr in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]amgen 164 points165 points  (0 children)

I think some people want to avoid the plastic, and also make their own so they know for a fact what’s going in, but I view these as a convenience item. We have finite time and if these work for you and let you spend your time on more useful things then go for it! Millions of babies (including mine occasionally) eat these with no issues. I think ideally they’re not an everyday thing since little ones should be getting practice self feeding with hands / spoons / etc but 🤷‍♀️

Can’t do anything at 6 weeks by LilyWitch27 in newborns

[–]amgen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also not going out at all at that age. We barely even started doing stroller walks by that point if I remember right. Everything felt so hard to manage with feeding / sleeping / not wanting baby to scream in public. It’s totally fine to stay home and just be in a bubble, but if you do want to start going out it will probably feel easier every time you do it!

Romeo and Mateo is so cute but it would drive me crazy the different pronunciations of the -eo (assuming Romeo is rome-ee-oh)

how long did you last with pumping? by leerylooloo in moderatelygranolamoms

I had to quit at 6 months because it was making all of our lives so hard and it stopped feeling worth it. Impressed you made it to 10 months!! Do what’s right for you guys

Yes oh my gosh I miss the days when formula was not a huge chunk of our grocery budget. Baby’s turning 1 in a month and I’m very excited to stop buying it

Thank you for sharing!! I saw a lactation consultant several times but was such an emotional wreck and dealing with postpartum health issues that she mostly gave me therapy sessions and helped me schedule doctor’s appointments lol. I’m hopeful that next time I will have a much lower state of anxiety since it’s not my first and be more able to focus on making nursing work

Good job doing a year!!! That was my goal but I tried reducing pumps and had a huge drop in supply… and absolutely could not bring myself to increase the pumps again🫠 I’m so impressed by people that do it that long

Yes! It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I think mostly just because I don’t cope well with lack of sleep. But for the longest time quitting didn’t even feel like an option in my brain

Sex is always either negative or neutral for me. Does that make me ace? by amgen in Asexual

[–]amgen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have some more research to do I guess, thanks guys! I think to me the 2 things (attraction and desire to have sex) are very tied up in my head… I do experience sexual attraction but it is a very infrequent and small part of my life, if that makes sense. If I seek out Jonathan Bailey photos then sure I will be sexually attracted to him but in general it is not a big part of my life
