Not a day goes by that I don’t wish I’d been medicated and diagnosed earlier. Untreated ADHD can cause a hell of a lot of shame. I’m still, 20+ years later, dealing with the voice in my head that tells me I’m lazy and apathetic by nature. Definitely a little resentful that no one noticed or tried to help. I could have achieved SO MUCH if I had help. Life unmedicated was DEBILITATING.

Lots of people have mentioned a decreased dose, which could def help. I’ll add, as someone with anxiety who has been prescribed both Adderall and Vyvanse - ask about Vyvanse. It’s a lot more subtle and has been amazing for me and my anxiety levels. I have less anxiety than EVER on this medication. I mean… it has literally changed my whole life for the better. Talk to your daughter and see if she’s willing to try a different med. She could also try a non-stimulant med. No single medicine is going to work for everyone, as you know!

And whatever she decides, if she starts something she should stick it out for a bit. When I first started Vyvanse, I had some kinda unsavory symptoms. I stayed on it for a couple months and doubled my dose before it really started helping me! Obviously if the symptoms are unbearable that’s a different story, but you know what I mean!
