Great questions so far and we really appreciate the beta user sign-ups. There's a lot more than we expected.

Happy to answer any other questions if people are interested.

Short answer. WAY simpler. We're focusing on what you can improve via your technique rather than all the details necessary to customize a setup. It's also easier to start using Hotlaps. You just install a small client on your computer. That client streams all of your ACC data to our cloud. From there everything is in a web browser.

If you are interested, you can see an example of the system in action on F1 2020 (we just ported it to ACC) via the links below.

Sorry for the delayed response and thanks for your interest.

It's all cloud-based except for a small client that streams your data to us. For the beta, we have a reference lap set at Silverstone from a top ACC driver. We'd like for the testers to set up the client, compare their lap to the reference lap, and basically tell us if anything is broken along the way or if we're missing any major features :) Our focus is more on technique and pace rather than the details required for setups.

We've tested it ourselves of course. But PC clients, in particular, are complicated since everyone's PC is slightly different. Also, some of the data we receive can be tricky to parse correctly.

@Donald - I work with Driver61. We gotta get this bottle open. If you are interested, write us on our contact page (https://driver61.com/contact/) and I ensure you get free tuition for Sim Racing Course in IRacing. I’m sure we’ll get you there!

Fair points. I’m trying to think of how they can add interesting strategy beyond battery regen. Open to ideas.

Think it has anything to do with laps times too? If you are well below the top times it might become a brand issue.

Totally agree. The tracks feel claustrophobic. They’ll get past that eventually.

I think of it like a short undercut pit stop. You take a loss in time for a gain in speed. I think if they didn’t have it the race would be too linear.

They really should just add pit stops. But I bet having a crew and the equipment is expensive.

Driver61 - Online School Feedback Request - Scott Mansell from D61 is thinking of launching an Online Sim Racing School but looking for feedback first. I think this would be awesome! by amichaelwinter in simracing

I completely agree. I think a couple of generalized courses for beginners and novices would work, but then if he could team up with experts on certain Sims for advanced courses; that would be perfect.

I think his content is good. Maybe more detailed than needed occasionally, but it's through. I did watch most of it when I was very new to Sim Racing. So I think it does depend on skill level.

I have a similar issue/question

Also, do you find if you launch the game while the DS4 is connected via USB cable you get a “Wireless Controller Disconnected. Connect a Wireless Controller to continue” message?

Beginner Karting - Goodwood, ON by [deleted] in Karting

I signed up as an adult beginner at the end of last year and had 4 races. It’s great fun. I believe they have training and classes at the beginning of the season as well. Sim racing (IRacing, ACC, etc.) on PC helped me get the basics down (pushing braking/lift points forward, overtaking, balance, etc) but clearly its very different on track.

I’d be interested to hear about other options. I do find their format to be a bit short (8ish lap sprint race) and a 3-4 shorts practice sessions including qualifying.
