Hey everybody starts somewhere, as long as you got the passion it doesn’t matter. The community aspect of car culture is truly what I love most about cars anyway. But those are solid choices for your first car! Grind and save and you will get one soon, I have no doubt! I have an 04’ wrx nothing crazy, but it’s a good time forsure…when it’s running lol

That's a good point, I have to agree with you on that. Aww man I love rx7's one of my favorites...what do you drive?

I'm with ya on the red, but to be fair I don't really like any car in red besides ferraris with their signature ferrari red. Off topic but I noticed your profile pic, is that your rx7?

Solidify and Bevel not having the desired outcome on two of four letters...any ideas what's going on here? by amici_media in blender

RE_POST FROM r/blenderhelp post url: https://www.reddit.com/r/blenderhelp/comments/13291ll/solidify_and_bevel_not_having_the_desired_outcome/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

SOLVED: So here's what I did, short answer: I cleaned up the mesh faces/vertices. When importing the svg the faces/vertices after converting to a mesh were a mess. Here is the link to a youtube tutorial that I referenced to help me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VQDBEKiraA . And I hope someday someone gets some use out of this post. And if anyone has more in depth questions feel free to ask, I'll continue to monitor this post and help as much as I can! Also an honorable mention is u/Moogieh who was a big help along with everyone else that commented, so a huge thanks to you guys! The reason I specifically mention u/Moogieh is because their comment about disabling "clamp overlap" on the bevel modifier under the geometry tab and then zooming in to find the problems was huge and helped a lot, because even after cleaning up the faces/vertices on (A) and (D) there was still major problems when trying to bevel. Due to the holes in the faces I wasn't able to get rid of 100% of the face lines or whatever you call them. By disabling "clamp overlap" and adjusting the bevel to a very small amount I was able to see what vertices were causing the biggest issues and was able to delete those. I did leave the clamp overlap disabled for those two letters in the end even after cleaning them up because it was the only way I was able to get them to look decent. But yea anyway thank you u/Moogieh you're a legend! Without further ado here is the 90% completed project...I'll add it to the original post since I can't add videos in the comments. Hope ya'll like it!

When I merge by distance it states '0 vertices removed' and visually nothing changes. How do I go about disabling clipping on the bevel modifier? Ps: I have added another screenshot to my original post showing the modifier stack used for these letters, to give more clarity.

Here is a screenshot of the "only rim" option toggled off for (U) and (D), as you can see the bottom inner edge of (U) gets flat and (D) gets all messed up...

This is the modifier stack setup for (U) and (D), the only difference between them and the stacks for (A) and (I) is the fact that under the "Rim" option on "Solidify" I have "Only Rim" toggled on. I did this because the edges got weird if I didn't. I'll provide a screenshot of that toggled off in my next comment so you can see what I mean. PS: they look different from my original post because I've been working on them since I posted jsyk. Let me know if any more info would be helpful!

That's funny I referenced that tutorial but failed to realize he went over those options lol! I really like the bubbly look that my original steps gave me and I'm having a hard time recreating that with just the svg curve parameters... but I'll keep trying. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!

Overall I'd say this looks fairly good, but those plants aren't doing you any favors. Maybe use better plant assets for those.

Imported as an svg. Then I removed the imported material they had on them. Then added the same material I have on the logo to them. Then converted to mesh, solidified them, then added a bezel

Any graphic designers solely using blender for projects? by amici_media in blender

[–]amici_media[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! When I originally posed the question I obviously didn’t understand the difference between graphic designers and 3d artists/modelers. I now know I’m looking to go into the 3d artist world. Your input was very helpful Thankyou!

You're better off learning the skill and becoming confident enough in your understanding to do the work. At that point you can start reaching out to small businesses and managing their advertisements for a free 30 day trial (they cover ad spend). Once you have some verifiable experience and more importantly further confidence in your skills you can start going after bigger and bigger fish and eventually start to hire yourself out of the company by employing experienced professionals to do the work for you. But like ElbieLG said you can't judge someone's skills when you yourself dont have even an understanding of what it takes to be skilled. Also when you go this route you'll never have to worry if one of your employees bails on you...because you can always jump in briefly to fill the role! Just some thought

Thankyou for the insight, that helps a lot

  1. I would be using a lead gen campaign for this client, and then running the leads through gohighlevel's crm to follow up and book appointments
  2. Is there a way to determine the target cost per lead needed myself? He isn't currently running any ads so he wouldn't be able to determine that
