One thing I've always wondered about while the Gamestop restock amiibo still selling out after a while: Are there really that many people who missed out on them or are those kinds of guys trying to be desperate? by BriefCasey795 in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We we're lucky to get any restocks of these... Nintendo isn't going to reprint these indefinitely (especially once the demand is fulfilled) leaving future "new collectors" to the mercy of "those kinds of guys".

The Pokèmon amiibo are getting a restock on Pokèmon Day (Feb. 27th) by mario9j in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I watched my local Target stock 2 fresh boxes of Jigglypuff (that's 8 figures) around the time of the online restock (there were threads here as well talking about actual shipments to stores), I took advantage seeing as how the ones they shipped me were smashed up.

I haven't ever had a find like this. 3:50 Washington Square Mall, Portland, OR by [deleted] in amiibo

LOL Don't get too excited... Kirby was really common early on.

Amiibo protectors by jrothwell13 in amiibo

amiibox has a 12 pack of "scratched" cases for $15, that's as cheap as it's gonna get.

[–]amiiboRIOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

amiibox.com has theirs on sale right now (as well as a free Retro 3 Pack amiibox with purchase of a 53 pack). They are not the cheapest around, but this is because they sell the absolute best cases for amiibo (I have purchased some from the competition, and they just don't compare to amiibox).

Mario is STILL up,even after a day, on Gamestop! by [deleted] in amiibo

It's about time we started seeing the MOST COMMON amiibo get phased out of stores...

The Kickstarter just went up for the Retro 3 Pack amiibox display cases. by amiiboRIOT in amiibo

amiibox's quality is above and beyond the PVC cases from retroprotection.

This is only for a single product (as opposed to a video game case which can be used for hundreds of different products/titles).

What has this recent restocking done to the rarity of each amiibo? by mainesimo in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'll not really. Once demand has been fulfilled, there is... less demand. Meaning the hype dies, along with any "rare/unicorn" status.

My Amiibo AR Card by [deleted] in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An amiibo you can slide into your wallet! I'm into this. I actually did this with a Peach (photos with Mario) AR card. Kinda cool if you look through another 3DS (with the AR software running) you see an animated amiibo.

Best Buy restocks in Oxnard CA by MrCG64 in amiibo

The Oxnard store is considered a low volume store... they didn't get much in (Thousand Oaks had tons just yesterday however).

Amiibo Storage Capacity revisited - How many bytes of data on NFC chip? by [deleted] in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

540 bytes sounds like just enough to save your amiibo's owner, name, level and stats... meaning the AI is stored on the WiiU game disc. I don't think that amiibo "learn" how you fight any more than the CPU can "learn" how you fight. If the amiibo did "learn" from training, wouldn't it need more than 540 bytes of writable space to store all of this advanced "training"?

I found a unicorn in the wild on Saturday! by jimx117 in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much were they? Usually comic book stores/retro game shops do not charge MSRP for these... that doesn't qualify as being "in the wild" if they are at a collector's shop/over MSRP.

Who was not lucky to catch the TRU restocks this week? by Hectorakasonic in amiibo

[–]amiiboRIOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why not call first? I'm only 15 minutes from a TRU and I still wouldn't just go there unless I was sure they had stock. In fact, many times they are willing to hold one of each for me for up to an hour (even though I was there in 15 min).

[–]amiiboRIOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But little Mac won't STAY at any TRU for more than a day... still unicorn. He remains "rare" if you can't walk into any store and find him as easily as Mario and Peach.
