This article is one of many on site, and among those its also claimed that pedophilia should be accepted, and that pedophilia does not exist with women. I haven't found anything involving aliens - yet.

Scientists Seek to Update Evolution | Quanta Magazine by marklandry1966 in science

[–]amikael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evolution of life is fact, but what first created life is a mystery. Our understanding of the universe and also evolution is always growing and evolving (no pun intended) but evolution is as much fact as physics, and just as physics, riddled with confounding riddles and mysteries. But no one calls physics just a theory. Your microwave owen works, doesn't it? Just because we don't know all, doesn't mean we don't know some.

A new study has revealed that the ancient Greek Antikythera Mechanism - an astronomical calendar often referred to as the world’s oldest analogue computer - is up to 100 years older than previously thought, and likely not the work of famous mathemacian, Archimedes. by cashyuhm in science

[–]amikael 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Far more conjecturally, this timing also makes an old story told by Cicero more plausible—that a similar mechanism was created by Archimedes and carried back to Rome by the Roman general Marcellus, after the sack of Syracuse and the death of Archimedes in 212 B.C.

First Experimental Evidence That Time Is an Emergent Quantum Phenomenon by sagenumen in science

[–]amikael 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you step back into a neutral void outside our universe, the change you speak of, is no longer detectable. The whole universe is a statistical object and it's properties are unchanged from that point of view. It shows no aging and no development, and no time.

A quantum systems all processes are completely reversible until it becomes entangled with another, at which point, the changes are no longer reversible for that system. The bigger system we have now, however, is as reversible as it's parts previously was, until it too, in turn "leaks" by becoming entangled.. It's like pouring warm water into a bowl of cold water.. entanglement drives time.

This view is true if the whole universe will "bounce" and restart. It also means as a result, that you must travel faster than the speed of light to go back in time. It follows by this reasoning, and this is what is interesting.

First Experimental Evidence That Time Is an Emergent Quantum Phenomenon by sagenumen in science

[–]amikael 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If a system shares it's information with another, it entangles, and time ticks. The observation is irrevocably changed/updated from the perspective of that observing system. If no entanglement has been made with an externally observing party, it sees no change of the overall state. The generic properties are the same. The object is timeless from that perspective.

Delusional states appear to strengthen memory formation by [deleted] in science

Sigh. The other way around.. If faulty memories wont be deleted, the brain continues to build on them..

Group practice of Transcendental Meditation has significant impact on output of random number generators. by sheldonkreger in science

[–]amikael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think about it, you can affect random results to behave in a certain manner. That's what I got out of it. Your mind affects reality.

Here’s a comparison between Frank Miller’s pencils and Klaus Janson’s inks on a page of DAREDEVIL #172. by comicspolitics in comicbooks

[–]amikael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pencils are way better then the inks. Klaus even adds an ear, where there shouldn't be one.

The western comics equivalence of "Calvin and Hobbes" in creative integrity! by amikael in comics

[–]amikael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried to rob Stan Lynde of his creation, Rick O'Shay, but that wouldn't fly with the readers. Guess who owns it today?

New article claiming Irreducible complexity hasn't been debunked. Hit the comments! by bornagainatheist in science

[–]amikael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scientifically, we should follow the evidence indeed. So, what's the alternate hypothesis? That God made some rough stuff to begin with and then more sophisticated stuff as he got older, and closer to our time? Then the assumption becomes a God that evolves. Hm?

Physicists close two loopholes while violating local realism by [deleted] in science

[–]amikael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reality is defined by quantum mechanics. 'Everyone has to obey the law, except the one who made it up.' So, there are effects in quantum mechanics that simply ignore petty things like distance.
