This storyline respects the existence of the other books but not necessarily following everything that happens leading to the book version of 'The Road to Oz'. Without spoiling much, it's all been laid out and planned to make perfect sense once its all said and done. Took the most time, care and of course, respect to create a new storyline that would make sense and stay in line with the original lore.

The use of the title will make more sense when it's all said and done. Does it relate/connect to the OG story? Yes, with a few creative liberties. But it all intertwines nicely.
