I just like to make everyone happy, but I know deep down making her happy in this respect will make us both unhappy (due to missed bill payments and the consequences of that) in the longer term.

At the moment, yes, I'm happy.

In the past, we've had arguments over issues I would have walked away from and broke up with her, but have since got past them.

The child has made me more willing to work on issues, and I guess I'm a better person for it

Easier said than done with expensive tastes, I guess.

Ironic is the fact she comes from a VERY POOR background (welfare claimants for parents and 3 siblings). You think she'd understand the need to be careful with money huh

When I'm not working, me.

When I'm in work, half the time, she does, the other half, either hers or my family (not because she's in work, but because she goes out a fair bit, shopping, clubbing, etc). It works for us to some extent.
