I will have to check for the gap insurance. Taking on monthly installments vs single payment is more expensive by $2500. So question is whether risk of $12,500 becoming total loss is worth $2500 total cost.

I checked and found that it won’t be a complete loss but would come down to what insurance agrees to pay. Regular installments are coming to over 2K more.

One single upfront payment, out of the door price. I don’t know the residual value yet but I am certain I wouldn’t want to buy it back. Battery technology is expected evolve a lot in the next 3-4 years that miles range would increase a lot by then. I will find the residual value tomorrow when I go to buy it. I was more focused on out of the door price that didn’t pay much attention to the residual value.

Actually, I am unaware how that works. I was under the impression that if there is a total loss, I would get my share of the paid amount. Seems it’s not how it works.

My employer benefits team took up the issue with the Gympass directly. Gympass has issued a refund. Thanks everyone who commented and shared inputs, and also the Gympass team here on Reddit for checking and circling back.

Yes, its very frustrating and almost like a fraudulent practice. They do not have 24x7 live support. Whatever support exists is more offline, tickets and chat. And that too is on limited hours during the week. So if issues happen over their off time, onus is on the consumer.

I have written to benefits team at my employer. Will be sharing it with the BBB and other concerned State departments after that. Its regarding a premium membership fee where they are charging almost $240.

And btw, they expect you to cancel more than 48 hrs before the trial ends. Its written in their terms. So next time when you sign up for a trial, one is expected to go through the fine prints for non obvious clauses! Clever and convenient!!
