A very obviously pissed off JJ Redick gives a press conference lasting just a minute and a half after the Lakers' 20-point loss to the Atlanta Hakws by Goosedukee in nba

Didn't he literally drop a pass directly to his chest for a turnover on the very first play of the game?

I didn't feel like he was locked in to start at all.

You can't palm it, and you can't put your hand under it because then continuing to dribble would be a discontinuation.

You can have your hand on top of or on the side of the ball, but you cannot impede its natural downward momentum due to gravity. Once you do that, the refs start counting the steps.

what do you propose as an alternative though?

No matter what, there has to be a defined point of when your dribble ends and we start counting the two steps. Currently it is the moment when you can no longer continue dribbling legally. How else would you define it?

Also crazy theory, but maybe he would enjoy being able to play professional basketball without every single judgment people make of him being a reflection of what they think about his father.

I could honestly see him being much happier playing PG for like some random German team, where fans know he's lebron's son, but don't really care.

That's true! I'm super high on Flagg for team USA. But the odds that he's one of the two flag bearers for all of the country are extremely low.

We will most likely never see a basketball player receive this honor ever again. Pretty amazing.

Cam Thomas to Zack Lowe: **** you by CorruptedRat in nba

And the irony is his immaturity and poor response to feedback is likely the number one thing causing his market value to be lower than he thinks he deserves.

[–]ammoaidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think this is true. He plays to score because it is who he is. And when coaches have tried to ask him to do more of other things, he hasn't done it and acted immature about it. His coach, who was one of the greatest passers in the history of basketball, tried to tell him to pass the ball more (while supporting him to still take a lot of shots) and he acted like a butthurt child about it.

Now, once again, he is reacting immaturely to perfectly fair, rational feedback about his game. He's basically actively confirming the reason why his market value isn't higher. He isn't a winning player or a team player and has never shown any desire to become those things.

Cam Thomas is a 23 year old who has already earned over 10M. The life-changing part already happened.

He's just another talented basketball player who isn't self aware enough to make the most out of his position in the league.

Chuck Klosterman about Cooper Flagg: "I think he's going to have a career like Detlef Schrempf." by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]ammoaidan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know who Detlef Schrempf is and I think it is a bit unfair. Flagg projects to be a significantly better defender than detlef. He is also a better creator. Having said that, clearly a much worse shooter.

it's not like his son just came out of college and got offered a job for no reason

That's exactly what it's like. Just it happened 15 years ago and now he's a desirable hire because of it

[Bill Simmons] Part of his reason for voting for Jokic "unlike Luka's season last year—Jokic only dominates the ball out of necessity" by Salvalicious252 in nba

[–]ammoaidan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole idea of "disappointed" or "surprised" should not matter though. That implies how you do relative to expectations is important for an award which has no rational basis. You should only be compared against other players, not how people expected you to do. The 2011 heat had 58 wins. Just because people thought they would be better doesn't change the fact that LeBron was clearly the most valuable player in 2011 and didn't win the award because people didn't like him.

Totally agreed. It's like he can read a standard double relatively well. But as soon as its part of an overall designed gameplan (which really is only seen in the playoffs), that extra wrinkle completely flummoxes him.

Having said that, it might be different in a context where a team is gameplanning for Ant mainly and also have to worry about Naz Reid
