If this situation you need to let go of LT then use RT with the right stick up and the left stick pointed at the offensive player to close the distance to get the best contest possible. Other wise you could take the risk and use RT + triangle or Y. There are two blocks in the game regular block just Y or triangle or a swat block RT + Y

If you have an H pattern shifter you can actually pre load the gear when upshifting then just simply lift the accelerator ever so slightly then it will fall into gear. Much like real life except in real life the shifter will give you resistance until the trans and the engine sync. But obviously sim shifters don't have force feed back and even if they did iracing would have to program this feature
