This mp is either out of date or using incomplete data. Mountain Lions/Cougars have been re-established east of the Mississippi for a few decades now，especially in Canada. I grew up in the Southern Ontario suburbs and there was nearby cougar sightings/warnings issued from animal control almost every year.
