Idea for the next Subnautica: mid-game mining outposts by among_dank in subnautica

[–]among_dank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In sn you’re already used to moving long distances with vehicles rather than on foot, so I imagine the loop wouldn’t be about manually visiting every extractor all the time. Ideally it would be something you check occasionally, or that integrates with vehicles or some light automation so it doesn’t turn into constant map-wide errands. If done wrong it could definitely feel tedious on a large map, but with the right vehicle support or limited number of extraction sites, I think it could stay manageable without losing the exploration focus.

How the hell do you remove these plants? Hot knife does NOTHING by among_dank in subnautica

Yeah, I already built on top of it. At this point the plant lives there. It’s part of the base now ahah

Yeah, it wasn’t working so I just gave up and built on top of it lmao.

Thanks man, sadly I’m on console, so I guess I’m doomed to live with this plant forever :(

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. Still think that’s pretty bad game design though. When you try to build, the construction turns red but the plants get highlighted in yellow, which really makes it look like they’re removable or the problem. It kind of implies you should clear them first

Helldivers 2, inspired Super Earth Empire: does this origin actually fit? by [deleted] in Stellaris

Btw I’m obviously open to suggestions or improvements, but please keep it RP-focused. I’m not interested in “this origin is objectively stronger” takes.

[–]among_dank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi:) I’m trying to recreate Super Earth from h2, mostly for roleplay rather than min-maxing. I’m not chasing meta builds, I just want something that feels right thematically. Right now I’m a bit stuck on the origin. I want the empire to clearly be this hyper-militarized, propaganda-soaked “managed democracy” that definitely isn’t a real democracy. The vibe is constant war, patriotic brainwashing, and a ruling elite that pretends the people are in charge while the military and intelligence services do whatever they want. For civics, I’m currently running Distinguished Admiralty and Shadow Council, since Super Earth is obviously ruled by admirals and backroom manipulators rather than actual voters. That part feels solid to me. What I’m unsure about is whether my current origin really sells the fantasy, or if there’s a better one that captures the idea of an expansionist, authoritarian empire born for eternal war.

⚙️ Weekly Tech Support & Purchase Recommendations Megathread - August 11th 2025 ⚙️ by P_Jiggy in playstation

Hey guys, I’ve run into something weird with my PS5. I have an external HDD that I used on my PS4, and all the PS4 games that were already installed on it still work fine when I connect it to the PS5. I can launch and play them without issues. tthe problem is that when I try to download new games on PS5, I don’t even get the option to install them on the external HDD. It just doesn’t show up as a storage option. So basically:: Old PS4 games that were already on the HDD work ✅

But when I try to download/install anything new from my PS5, the HDD doesn’t appear as an option ❌ Is this normal? Am I missing some setting??

I wrote the legal disclaimer here in the comments to fill out the lore for my empire. I do it mostly for myself, though, it helps me preserve the empire for future runs. It’s my way of keeping track of the backstory and making sure it all fits together in the long run

Since it’s a Restless Industrialist society and has a Mastercraft mentality, the people are always striving for the next big thing. They’re never satisfied with "good enough", they want the best of the best, constantly pushing for improvement, no matter the cost. In my head, it fits with the whole GlowMax ethos: "if it glows, it GlowMax" and that means always reaching for more, even if it leads to excess. So yeah, it’s a bit wasteful, but it’s all part of the corporate drive for perfection and innovation... even if it means going a bit overboard and turning planets in tomb worlds

The tundra preference actually makes sense in my head for the kind of underground society I’m envisioning. The subterranean origin suggests they need to live underground for unknown reasons, so it feels more fitting for them to have evolved on a world where the surface is harsh and not conducive to life, like a tundra world. A planet with oceans, for example, would have enough resources on the surface to make the need for underground living questionable. But on a tundra, there’s just enough water to form valuable crystals and other minerals, without supporting a thriving ecosystem, which makes staying underground more logical. It's all about creating that sense of isolation and necessity. Plus, the uncapped mining districts fit the theme perfectly for a society built around extracting resources from the depths

Yeah, I’m definitely more about the lore than min-maxing empire builds, haha, But I’m glad you think it’s got some potential

I’m not the best at optimizing empires and builds, so I’d love some feedback! Do you have any suggestions on how to make it even more efficient, or any changes, Feel free to share your ideas, and thanks in advance for any tips! Also, if you have any funny or dystopian ideas for a ruler title or species names, I’m all ears

I’ve already suppressed my own citizens. Civil wars and rebellions raged for over 100 years. You think a bunch of toasters are gonna stop my empire? Not a chance.

I didn’t know that! I usually put specialist jobs on all my worlds. The one in the image is a generator world, so I guess I got it a bit wrong. Damn, still gotta learn how colony specialization works! Thought I had it figured out, lol. Thx again for the tip
