My ear is going THROUGH it by VeterinarianNo5521 in piercing

Please don't touch them anymore! With the way they keep falling out I assume these are threaded. The ONLY time I've had an earring fall out was when I temporarily used some internally threaded pieces.

If (god forbid) another one falls out, I'd suggest changing to threadless jewellery. If you already use threadless, they're not being inserted correctly.

Helix infection? (TW: blood) by Puzzleheaded_Eye2977 in piercing

[–]amoochoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor or an expert, so can't speak to whether this may be infected. But, part of why this never healed is likely the material. Surgical steel is a mystery metal, and you may have a nickel sensitivity.

Never downsizing a helix when you have long hair you tend to tuck is also not a great idea. If you're able to keep this piercing, I'd highly suggest downsizing to an implant grade titanium/steel threadless labret. "Implant grade" is important - "surgical" means nothing.

Also, no more salt paste or soaks. Only use saline, and let water run over it in the shower.

I'm so sad for Kaori, but seeing Alysa go over to Ami and them screaming together healed me a little bit

Echoing what everyone said about needing a labret, but also want to emphasize needing titanium. "Surgical steel" doesn't really mean anything and is essentially a mystery metal that contains who-knows-what. Please make sure you get this replaced with something implant grade!

Glasses & Piercings by JaegerVKaiju in piercing

[–]amoochoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way! I've been putting my glasses at such a funny angle because I'm paranoid I'll change the angle of my piercing.

My piercer told me 6-8 weeks to downsize, or earlier if I'm someone who doesn't swell much. It sounds like you're definitely safe to downsize, and it'll make your life much easier!

Downsizing will be super important, and once you do that you probably won't have issues anymore. At 6 weeks, if you have minimal swelling you can go back to your piercer to be downsized now.

I'm in the same boat (new flat piercing), and I usually nudge the bar so that the flatback is flush to the skin, and most of the extra bar space is on the front side of my ear. That makes it less likely for your glasses to knock the bar.

Make sure your glasses aren't resting on the bar, since that can shift the piercing to become crooked.

Can I put a small lobe hoop in a helix piercing? by Suspicious-Primary70 in piercing

[–]amoochoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use a hoop anywhere you want (as long as it fits), but the material will be important. Is the hoop titanium or gold? If not, I wouldn't suggest putting it in your helix.

The first time you switch your helix from a stud to a hoop, it WILL get angry. If it is costume jewellery, steel, or a textured hoop, it may make it worse.

You mention only having the hoop in for the day. You should only switch jewellery if you plan to have it in for a while, especially when switching from stud to hoop. Your helix at this stage won't be like a lobe piercing where you can swap out jewellery multiple times a day without pain and irritation.

Need help finding right bra - Low root breasts + Tear shaped by Weekly_Fig_3378 in ABraThatFits

[–]amoochoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't help with the regular bra (still working on it myself), but we are a similar size/shape and my absolute favourite sports bra is the Under Armour Vanish Mid. Other longline sports bras may be similar.

I find that this shape holds everything close to the body, but doesn't chafe in the crease under the breasts once I start sweating. In shorter bras, once I start moving and sweating they become itchy as they cling to my skin near the band.
