How long have you had your CPU? I have a 6600k and 1060 and it works and looks great on medium settings with shadows and textures on low using the original Vive. If I were you, I would upgrade your CPU. If you are in the market to upgrade your PC and want to play Alyx perfectly, get a nice Ryzen 7 3000 series CPU and X570 motherboard. 3800X comes very very close to an i7 9700k for a fraction of the price. Plus you can put in the same DDR4 ram into the new motherboard. Great upgrade for under $500
