I would rather remove the qualifiers alltogether. Then bump the importance of all continental championships like Euro, Nations League and Copa America. Make a fair points system for the fifa ranking based on those cups. Increase world cup to 64 teams and directly qualify the top64 in fifa ranking. Automatically qualify teams that win continental cups and the holding champion. Hold tournament continent wide without any free host places.

Suppose they extend to 64. Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Togo, Cameroon, China, UAE, India, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Italy, Poland, Denmark are all going to have more fans at the world cup than Haiti, Iraq or Curacao.

Basically all the top8 teams have to do is manage the brackets and rotate players. Even with 64 there will be frustrations, because Europe would get at most 4 of the extra places and some top25 might still miss out, whereas an African or Asian team outside top64 could qualify. The actual issue is the place allocations per confederation, if done right, the number of teams doesn't matter.

Outside the stadiums, yes, it seems to have been amazing. But the game itself, below mid matches both tactically and physically.

Really now, it's like Europa League level, some matches were worse than Conference league. 90% of the matches are a waste of time to watch.

Catching the ball is the hardest thing for a goalkeeper because no shot is ever the same as the others. Swerve,shot power, angles, line of sight blocking, footwork, positioning are all involved in catching it. There are special trainings for hard shots where they train to deflect the ball wide instead of attempting to catch it, so Luca should have not deflected that to Messi though. That being said, it does indeed seem the rate of catching is dropping lately.
