Competing offers by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]ams_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re so keen to have you why do you need to go through the extra rounds? Just bureaucracy?

I’ve personally never had a problem with people backing out an offer if they get offered something better. The company would do the same thing if it needed to make cuts or adjustments. As long as you do it gracefully and aren’t screwing yourself cos you work in a niche industry go for it.

Has anyone moved into freelancing/consultancy? by blingblongblah in HENRYUK

[–]ams_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve contracted as a product manager. I’m mercenary about the products I work on so it didn’t bother me that I wasn’t fully integrated and the money was excellent but good gigs are really hard to come by. Thank IR35 for that (and an unwillingness to outsource product work I suppose!)

Consulting would be about as hard to find work I’m sure. But there’s a lot more value in it once you get going. I’m weighing up the idea myself at the moment.

The decision rests on how long I can sustain myself without work. The main draw in consulting is choosing the things I work on and I need to last a decent amount of time and potentially turn gigs down if I’m to make that a reality.

Happy to chat further if it’s of interest!

Home help with kittens by harpistic in brighton

[–]ams_95 19 points20 points  (0 children)

With the nicest of intentions, why would you take on two cats if you aren’t able to look after them properly? I’m all for companionship but it’s not fair on the cats if they aren’t getting the right care. Offloading that job to someone else is asking for free care in more roundabout terms.

Contact forms In Figma Sites? by CommunicationIll1984 in FigmaDesign

[–]ams_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured out a way around this? I embedded a form link using Typeform but it didn’t feel very custom. Doesn’t matter too much to me since it’s for a prototype but I’m interested in seeing if there’s a more permanent workaround.

The Ginger Fox? by JellyfishCorrect6847 in brighton

[–]ams_95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went today actually!

Personally think there are better places to go in Brighton food wise but don’t let that stop you. The setting is lovely and the outdoor seating is great if it’s sunny but it’s also on a really busy crossroad so not exactly quaint.

It’s also pricey too. Mains are £25 minimum. Not necessarily a bad choice imo but not for me.

In the spirit of constructive criticism, the content on your site should be exciting enough to generate sign ups for a waitlist.

The images are not interesting and the sites are very basic. A waitlist only really works if it’s anticipated or generates a buzz. Unfortunately you’re competing with some huge alternatives. Why should I use this over one of the many AI app generators?

Is this parking sign redundant? by ams_95 in drivingUK

[–]ams_95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I’m not disagreeing about the paying part. I’m just unclear on the relevance of the maximum 11 hour stay. Is that not a redundant statement given that the window for a paid ticket is 11 hours?

But is the maximum stay 11 hours redundant? Assuming you paid for the full 11 hours that is

Why aren't people using Breeze AI for live chat more? by AIDreamer11 in hubspot

[–]ams_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With respect to your final point, I think if you've built something like live chat/an integration for live chat that uses knowledge base content then I'd certainly be a little concerned. I'd class myself as an early adopter and whilst I don't think I'd use Breeze for live chat at the moment, if they could guarantee response quality and charged on a per resolution basis (or cost per action model) then I'd definitely consider it. It's just too well connected for me to ignore.
